Started my CF Moto V5 250 today for the first time in 11 weeks. Turned key on and let the pump prime, then pushed the start button and it turned over three compressions and fired up and idles nicely. I like fuel injection when it works properly.

Took the plunge today, I rode my CF Moto V5 (auto scooter cycle as my left hand is still a bit weak for clutch levers) to the coffee shop. Bit wobbly for the first couple of blocks but all good after that. Pulled up beside a Landcruiser trayback at the traffic lights and felt a bit nervous looking at the rear corner of the tray, lights changed and I blasted past him. By the time I got home I figured out why I had been feeling depressed lately, haven't been riding! Might sneak out again tomorrow for a bit longer ride if the weather good. Linkin even came to check up on me, thanks Adrian.

Well the last few weeks have turned to shite.
Went to Brisbane to pick up some CBR parts (thanks Kiffsta and A.C.) and to my daughters to look after grandkids. While there had a brain bleed and was unable to stand up. Straight to Lismore hospital for scans and onto air ambulance back to John Hunter in Newcastle. 3 1/2 hour operation later and the doctors have removed the blood and sewed up the leak. 7 days there and road ambulance (they were worried the air pressure changes could cause another bleed) back to Tamworth hospital for four more before being allowed home. The headaches are being kept in check with morphine and I am told will diminish after a couple of weeks. I am taking it very easy and calling in lots of favours to get things done and to be transported around (my licence has been suspended after the brain surgery, too risky to drive on road when I could 'black out' without warning). Will be getting the 15 stitches out on Friday so hoping that will ease things a bit.
When back in ward I complained to a nurse that even though I used to drink 'rocket fuel' when I was younger I had never had a hangover like this. She replied 'that is what you get when they drill big holes in your head'.

 

Thursday went for xray of left wrist and teleconference (skype) with wrist doctor in Newcastle (JHH) and the plate has moved and I will have to go back and be opened up again to fix.
Friday turned to poo.
Had a numbness in my left hand and left side of face. Went to doctors to get stitches out, he took one look at me and said 'go straight to hospital, I think you're having a stroke." Four hours in observations, then into CT scan, phone discussion with doctor in JHH who drilled the hole and allowed home with my partner Wendy to look after me (and I only live a block from hospital). Bad headaches and dizzyness still with me. Getting sick of this 'take it easy' business.

 

After my last conference with wrist doctor (he wanted to fuse wrist joint- not on sunshine) and waiting a further six weeks it now has started to heal as it should and there will be no operation on it in near future, hooray.
The head doctors are pleased with healing progress, but the head aches are driving me to distraction. Some nights have been so bad (even after taking every pill I could find) that if I had had a length of rope I think I would have used it (wouldn't have been as painful). Imagine the worst hangover you've ever had, multiply x 10 and everytime your heart beats there is some pr**k hitting your head with a hammer. This may give you some idea.
Fortunatly, things are getting a little better each day and have gone from three morphine down to one now with lots of panadol to help.
Ribs still giving me grief as there are two (No 5&6) which have not fused back together and Newcastle and Tamworth hospitals are having a 'pissing contest' trying to palm me off to the other one. Don't know what can be done but getting very angry that no-one will give me an answer.
Still a bloody long road to go yet.

 

I hear ya. I suffer from migraines and sometimes I want to get the cordless and drill a hole in my head. Soldier on mate, any progress is good progress.

 

Having been on high dosage pain killers for a few years with my knee it took me nearly 6 months to wean myself off them... I stupidly tried the cold turkey approach without telling anyone and ummm not a good idea.
The current methodology is to use Panadol (strongest one is Panadol Osteo) as base line pain control and them manage the highs with the lowest dose Morphine or whatever they have you on...
That method works well for pain management.. not sure how it will go with the headaches though Steve.
These days I am lucky if I take 2 panadol once or twice a week...I am sure my Liver approves.

Good progress on the wrist...ribs are more difficult but you will get there...
