Try your old plug caps again, see if the problem persists with them. You'll narrow it down soon. I'm with Blair sounds like carby to me, float levels too high or bowls not filling up, it'll be simple. Electrics just stop, yours is up & down, gotta be fuel.
Let me fix that for ya Risky.. ( i just finsihed a motivational course) grey, i will help you out. what parts do you need, Dont sell it, you are so close.
nah, hate to see grey upset.prefer to take it off his hands so he can work on the cafe racer and sleep well at night.
Thanx for all the suggestions etc. Presently Ive made a tactical retreat to plan a new offensive. Ive made a list from the posts here and a few ideas of my own and will give it another go soon What makes it a little more frustrating is having to work outside , usually in the sun, and run around finding tools. The next step I think will be to get the shed up ASAP , so Im undercover and have all the essentials within reach.
Yeah sounds like al electrical problem under load, like a connector or wire is heating up/being heated up and it conks out. Maybe its the signal generator for the timing? The ingine just conks and thats it, not like one side isnt firing and the other isn't. Work on the suzuki though so I can copy you
Yes space to work with plenty of room & organisation does wonders for clearing the head & sorting issues out.
OK you're going to want to shower me with gifts, have a National Memorial Holiday named in my honour, offer to make the sole beneficiary in your will... The solution to your problem is very simple, it's the fuse from the battery, the fuse isn't blown or anything, but there's an issue with the connection. How do I know, whilst trying to tune mine this afternoon, exact same issues as yours, started chugging and would just sit there on a loping idle even with the throttle pinned, I had it just sit there like that for 5 or more minutes. How did I find the issue, well it started playing up and then I decided to check the battery voltage wondering if the charging system was working, well I had 12.8 volts with the engine running as above, which you've also experienced numerous times. Well that aint right, should be well over 13.5 volts. So I powered it off and checked the battery voltage, 12.8 volts. Anyway one thing lead to another and I traced back to the fuse & holder. BINGO. So I had a blade fuse holder from Repco, Supercheap or Jaycar to hand, put some bullet connectors on the wires, plugged it in and problem gone. Switch out your fuse holder for another and I reckon you'll have your running issues solved peace out
its always something small and totally crap like this with our bikes!!! lol. - grey, i really do hope this is the remedy^
Well lads Ive got some good news and some bad news ...... It was one of the first things I did when sorting out the loom during rebuild But what it does is give me another area to check .... I was going to look at connections but its interesting something dodgy like that can have such an effect on the running. Thanx for the encouragement though boys .... its appreciated more than u may think And ruckus , u dont want to be in my will .... all u will get is 3 bikes that dont go!
Dang, well next time it play up, check the voltage at the battery, if it's below 13.5 - 14 volts the connection from the stator & regulator is suspect
Yea I will do that mate .... Ill do some voltage checks and have a good look at the connectors and may even swap out the starter solenoid. But I hadnt thought of testing the charging rate when the gremlin is at play.
I know you'll probably do it anyway but check it just to be sure. Maybe something has rubbed up under the seat, banged or whatever. May have a dodgy connection. Gives you a new direction though. EDIT: you already said you will. 2nd edit. Where did you get your battery strap? Yet ANOTHER thing that is missing on mine...
come on grey, you can do it!!!!!!!if you get it running i will up the price. seriously if you were close i would lend you parts to try.
