Click on this link for the Gearing Commander site.
Select the brand of your bike, thee model, and the engine/year, then select load gearing
You can change the current gearing of your front and rear sprocket's and the chart below will show the speed difference's
There are another couple of chart's below that will show you the rpm difference's too
If your bike isn't listed you can email the owner with all the relevant detail's and link's to the bike's spec's
They will load all the data into their site after checking out the detail's and your bike will then be there for future reference (take's about 4-5 day's to show up if it wasn't previously there)

There is also a Sprocket Calculator site for seeing the Torque/Speed difference's when changing sprocket size's

These are both very handy for calculating change's in gearing

I have used the gearing commander but found all the data for the FZR250 were different to that shown in the workshop manual. Using both sets of data it appears to me that I will have to change the sprockets to 16 front and 60 rear to get the best out of it. Any comments before I have the rear sprocket made. Thanks

17/56 for the 1990 FZR250, same as what the gearing commander has

So you want to lower your top speed with 16/60 ?
My FXR250 3LN3 happily sit's on 4950rpm cruising @ 60km/h in top gear, and will still hold that speed going up a small hill
On the freeway @ 100km/h it sit's on 8900 rpm in top

First gear is pretty short as it is standard, i'm in 3rd or 4th gear after taking off at the traffic light's when going through the other side

Top speed is listed at 111 mph and max BHP at 14500rpm. The 16/60 gearing will give 109mph at 14500. I am not interested in cruising as I would use one of my Dukes on the road. The FZR is to be used for standing start quarter miles and for acting like an idiot on winding roads.

If you are only going to rev it to 14,500 with the stock gearing (17/56) then the top speed at that rev is listed as 106mph on gearing commander
With 16/60 gearing the top speed at 14500 become's 93mph
If you rev it to it's 18,500 redline the top speed becomes 119mph with 16/60 gears

One of the members here ran a best time of 14.9 down the quarter on his FZR running 17/55 gear's

I have to beat 12.33 for the quarter to get a club record and get very low 14's to beat a CB250 (runs 14.54) and an Aprilia RS250 (runs 13.51@100mph). So the 16/60 gearing will help a little, and I can cheaply change the front sprocket to a 17 to give 99 @ 14500.

This gives an idea of gearing etc when swapping sprockets.
