What tyres are people using on their zxrs? I use Dunlop Sportmax GPR-300s on mine, but my girlfriend likes the Bridgestone BT52s but they don't do them anymore. What would be a similar feeling tyre for her A model? Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
Are you talking front or rear? Front is a 17" rim so lots of choices in the standard 110/70/17 size. The 18" rear is a bit harder. Like you I have GPR300's. Front is a GPR300F and rear is just GPR300. Do not know if there is a difference. Having a quick look on ebay, the is a Bridgestone Battleax BT92 that comes in 140/60/18 for the ZXR. I have seen pictures of ZXR's with a pirelli sport demon on the rear but don't know if they still do them. They also have a newer tyre called sport dragon out now.
I believe the ZXR400 runs a 17' rim and fits the ZXR250 swing arm, if you can track down a cheap one, then its worth doing, it will open up your tyre choice
Here's one for sale in Germany on ebay, pretty cheap as well - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Kawasaki...091614?hash=item210aadee1e:g:f9IAAOSwll1WuDMB Good idea kiffsta, you know now I'm going to be scouring ebay for one myself
I was looking for front, but rear doesn't have much life left in it, so will need to think about pairing them up. Looking like a BT90 front and BT92 rear atm. Sound like a reasonable choice?
I have been told that the zr250 balius 17 inch rear is a straight swap to the zxr. I cannot confirm this, as I have not done it. As far as tyres go, the best available in my opinion in that size (both 17 and 18 inch) are the Dunlop Alpha 13's. Nothing else comes close in grip. They are the only ones I will run on my race/track bikes in that size.
I run Dunlop alpha-13 which i could source for the same price as the battlax' on the 18" rear and 17" front.
yep the alpha 13's are the best you will find, imo the gpr300 are definitely 2nd though. try a 150 rear for better cornering, it will fit on the zxr.
Watch out for the 150 rears if you use a 520 chain kit thats brand new & a 15t front sprocket, the wheel can rub on the swingarm, solved mine by grinding a few mms off the swingarm.
