Re the rearsets; I think they look best when they are fitted to a frame lug. Plates look like a tacky add-on, but that is just my opinion.
You don't really want the last few drops of fuel, despite you cleaning the tank, that's where the crap resides. I have to agree with the masses the tank needs to be lifted at the back, so the base of the tank and the seat base are a continuous straight line.
Gentlemen? If I am looking to change my brake caliper to I have to get an exact copy or is there a way to find one that mounts the same and will work on my bike? A guy I know is parting out a GSX750F and the brake cal on the front is available for a lot cheaper than a brand new old one. What are the dangers?
If the bolt holes match exactly and the disk diameter are the same, I cannot see a problem there. Other smarter people feel free to contradict me. Ben, you should also consider swapping the master cylinder over as well, the fluid volumes will be different. I know when Vstrom pilots, such as myself fitted SV/GSXR calipers we also changed the master cylinder for the same reason.
I'm no expert on brakes, if the calliper fits, fine. However the gsx750 has twin disc on the front, therefore the master cylinder won't work on a single disc set up as far as I know. Would check that out to be certain.
need to check out the piston bore size in the caliper and master cylinder or you mite have a gravel rashed face or the imprint of a trucks tail gate.the master cylinder and caliper are matched.
Gentlemen, I loomed the bike up yesterday, changed the rec/reg and some plugs and got the sparks firing. When I disassembled the bike I neglected to mark the coils L and R and that could cause a problem but i'm not sure. Firstly, the bike turns over (woohoo!) and the starter moves everything fine. The exhaust makes a whomp like its got compression and the sparks fire, however when I added fuel to the mix the bike still wouldn't start. When I took the pod off to spray starter in it the guy helping me noticed a small draft coming back through the carbie. Is this normal? I have a feeling that we misaligned the cams to the compression timing and the valves don't open when the cylinder in on its intake stroke. Does this sound correct everyone?
Thanks Risky, I was worried there may have been something holding a valve open after some scare tactics from some of my mates haha. Turns out the manual doesnt specify which timing mark to line up with when setting your timing. Theres obviously a left and right cylinder timing mark, expect they dont specify which cylinder should be dead top. I pulled the heads off and reset the cyl positions so that the right was dead top and rotated the cams to zero. After a bit of aerostart and holding the throttle open I got her running! Yes, running. My bike lives!
Nah , none of that Gen Y baloney .... just a few simple pics and a vid of that monster exhaust system in action will suffice.
So today I hooked it all up and gave the battery a charge, and when I went to start it there was a little to much air so when I held my hand over the bare carbs and let it starve a little up she started. So i decided to pop the cheap chinese pods on, and that was enough back pressure to get her started first press. Here's what it'll roughly sound like: Yeah baby! Sounds pretty chunky, but I like it. Probably sounds meh at high revs, we will find out soon enough Next: Re-loom and place battery up under hump Chain grease, front brake rebuild Switches, indicators, headlights, dash lights Frame paint Tank and seat paint Upholstery Rear tyre swap (going from 90x90x18 up to a proper 100x80x18)
What do you think grey? going to do the exhaust on your one now? Wait till you hear me scream down a road somewhere?
Can anyone recommend a high performance carb that might fit the suzuki GSX250? I accidentally stripped one of the bowl threads that you check the levels with and a new card assembly is $250 :-S Tried contacting Mikunioz but they never got back to me. Also tried ShowNgo in SA and they had nothing. Cheers
what about tapping oversize or a helicoil????try findapart to seeif any wreckers have a 2nd hand one.
