Im getting pretty close to getting out on the track, I'm curious if anyone has any tips for breaking in leathers, the shop where I bought them from said put them on , have along shower in them, then get out in the sun for a few hours and as they dry, they will mould to your body. When I mentioned this to a few people, eyebrows went up and said wahhhht...

Curious if anyone has any other ideas

    Chris

I've heard of the whole 'saturate method' with leather, however I don't know if I'd be willing to do that with a racing suit. Especially when there's HD padding in it. Sounds like a recipe for a forever-stinky riding garment.

When I first got my leathers, I just threw it on and went riding. I loose enough sweat when riding.

to soften leather a good thing is neatsfoot oil. do not saturate. waterproofs, softens and protects.is oil from the shinbones of calves.

Any sort of good quality leather dressing/oil would be my preferred method. Would give waterproofing coat as well as softening the leather. What do Shark Leathers recommend?

ehhehe yeah - but on a serious note, Lanolin based leather care products always helped me when breaking in leather combat boots... makes the leather flexible while also protecting it. because the last thing you want is cracks in flex points, i.e elbows, pits, knees. those parts get moved and stretched the most.

might not be the same for bike suits, but hey it cant hurt it

Maybe use a leather conditioner, sparingly to begin with.
One that I have, for a casual leather jacket, is called Nourish by Joseph Lyddy -- Neutral and suitable for all colours.

Kudos for making it to the track :neo:

I wouldn't wet them. Just wear them in. A little tip I've found isn't really about wearing them in,but I saw all the top guys on raceday wearing compression underclothes. I am always saturated with sweat after a few laps and the leathers stick to me and are almost impossible to get off. The skins slide on the inside of the leathers making them easier to get off. And smell less. Probley last longer too. Lasting longer isn't an issue with mine as I have been falling off too much lately and mine need replacing.
