hi everyone I have put the stock air box back in currently moving electronics again but I need to order new jets as we drilled the old ones out. From this link http://www.pjmotorsports.com/mikuni-jets.html does any one know which idle and main jets I need to get to go back to stock for the gsx250 1983 model Thanks
Hi clancy1 hey pretty much we have been told by a few people to put the air box back in. But we now have to relocate all the wiring which we r doing now , we replaced the rubber boots to the carbs checked the valve clearances made sure the throttle cable is lubed and free but it kept keeping the idle high it would idle ok and then you rev it and it would stay up high! Not sure what else it could be we also disconnected the vacuum line capped it off and took the valve out of the pet cock to make the pet cock a normal one, does the vacuum line have anything do with it staying high or does the vacuum line just pull fuel to the carbs ?
Generally a hanging idle means an air leak somewhere. If you think you've eliminated the airleak perhaps your slides are getting atuck. Try looking down the throat of the carby and see if the slide that hold the needle is actually returning properly. Also have you checked the diaphrgms for tears? It is not impossible to run pods, check they aren't covering the kidney shaped hole on your carby. This is where the vacuum comes from to lift the sliders. Good luck.
