Info Club Laverda Concours 2016 - 17th of July

Presented by Club Laverda Qld Inc. (CLQ), CONCOURS is a static motorcycle display offering some 60 trophies and $2000 prize money for the best machine entered on the day. The event is one of the only of its kind in Australia, engaging exhibitors and motorcycle enthusiasts from the entire east coast and beyond.

Major Sponsors of CONCOURS include Penrite Oil, Morgan and Wacker Harley Davidson, Brisbane Motorcycles, Team Moto Motorcycles, and Bayside Yamaha.

This fantastic event has been presented by CLQ since 1988 and our home at Cleveland Show Grounds the result of the Story Bridge Concours (running for some 22 years) outgrowing the Kangaroo Point venue at Captain Burke Park.

CONCOURS D’ELEGANCE AND JUDGING:
$10.00 Entry fee applies to enthusiasts wishing to enter their machines for judging and over 60 trophies and prizes including the $2000 prize money for ‘Best in Show’.

Judging on the day is carried out by respected motorcycle enthusiasts from a variety of backgrounds. The winner of Best in Show from the previous year’s event will be a guest judge at the following years show. The judges’ decision is final. Machines entered for judging must be in running order.

The ever-popular DYNO will also be making an appearance at CONCOURS with trophies offered for the most horsepower for machines up to 750cc, over 750cc, and V-Twin’s.

ADMISSION:
Admission is free to children under the age of 15 years and $10 for all other patrons. Admission includes on-site motorcycle parking.

CHARITY:
Proceeds on the day go towards raising money for our chosen charity, the Make A Wish Foundation. Over the past 11 years CLQ has given some $65,000 to this worthy charity. ($10,000 was the donation to Make a Wish from Concours 2015)

INCLEMENT WEATHER:
The success of CONCOURS each year is assured providing the weather is fair. Should wet weather prevail the event will be postponed to a date to be set. Visit us at www.clublaverdaqld.com for information regarding postponement in the days prior to the event.

NON-ALCOHOL EVENT:
The event is a fun family day out and as such is alcohol free. Our permit prevents us from selling alcohol to

TRADE STALLS/CLUB DISPLAYS:
CONCOURS attracts motorcycle trade stalls (30 approx.), motorcycle enthusiast club displays (35 approx.), and motorcycle enthusiasts both local and interstate. If you would like to be involved in the show or you know someone who would like to present their business at the event, please get in touch with our events management staff.

ENTERTAINMENT:
Entertainment includes a wide variety of food vendors, free face painting, kiddie’s rides, and live music provided by the popular local act, The Dave Ritter Band. The ever-popular DYNO will be there with punters given the chance to test out their machines and win prizes for the top horsepower on the day.

At midday a Make a Wish Foundation representative makes a speech introducing a Make a Wish recipient. At 2.30 trophy presentations for the actual Concours D’Elegance winners is conducted.

MEDIA:
This event is very newsworthy, providing a positive spin on the motorcycling community. There will be ample opportunity for photos, video, and interviews with the ‘normal’ motorcycling community.

Club Laverda Qld Inc, established in 1982, is a motorcycle enthusiast club with a modest membership of 56. The aim of the club is to promote the Laverda motorcycle marque. Our goal is to share the good times.

JUDGING CRITERIA

CLUB LAVERDA CONCOURS
This is a basic guide to how bikes entered in the Concours are judged.The Concours is a Concours d’Elegance.*

1. Bikes are judged on their appearance. Dust or mud on a bike from the show venue will not be marked adversely, but dirt/grease etc. that dates from before the show will be.

2. Bikes are NOT judged on originality. With the wide variety of bikes entered each year, this would be an impossible task.

3. Obvious safety or mechanical defects will lower a bike’s score. Check your tyres and chains, and cable covers etc.

4. When two bikes are equal in the Judge’s opinion,

5. The Judges Award of Special Merit. This Award is for technical excellence in design or fabrication.

A. The winner will be the bike which shows signs of being ridden.

The Judges have a long and difficult task. Please do not make it tougher by speaking with them during judging. Your bike will be judged on its merit on the day, not on any other factor.

The Judges decisions are final. No correspondence or discussion will be entered into by Club Laverda Qld or any associates with regard to these decisions.

B. If both bikes have been ridden, the winner shall be that which has been ridden closer to its performance potential.

*(def. a public exhibition and competition in which automobiles or other vehicles are judged, chiefly on the basis of elegance and beauty.)

 

I popped out there this morning with @Darren for a quick look, crowds and bike numbers were down, I guess it was due to the weather. Cool to catch up with @netbikes and @paint-your-ride

 

plenty of 250's there which was nice to see, I think bike shows have are changing from just classic Zeds, CB's and Harleys to a little bit of everything
