Just picked up my new bike, slight upgrade from the suzuki across with 83***kms...

Now I just have to vastly improve my riding skills to get more out of it.

I sold the across yesterday too.. so i'm a fraud being on this site... is there a particular place to talk about non 250s?

Had a look, couldn't find anything

You guys have been so great and helpful on my riding journey so far, i would miss you all!

Nice bike! I wouldn't expect to ever conquer a hardcore sports bike of that capacity. @GreyImport and I'm sure Mr Big Cheese could open a section for "Other Bikes". Lots of owners here have bikes that aren't 250's.

Nice, a 675 with undertail exhaust in blue... exactly the bike I want... I had an R6 which was a fantastic bike, miss it dearly, was heartbroken when the engine died on me :(

The only real change on a bigger bike is that twisting the go stick hard responds a lot more than a 250 does. You have to be careful with your downshifting too if the bike has aggressive engine braking. Once you get used to the handling and seating position of the bike, you'll ride just as well as you did on your 250 :crazypilot:

Congrats Sarah. One of the best bikes I've ever ridden. Beautifully balanced, quick and great brakes. You've picked a great bike for the next stage of your motorcycling journey. Enjoy.

Congratulation Sarah, you have chosen a wonderful ride. The Triumph 675 is a great looking bike, very hard to fault.
I tend to agree with @Linkin re the use of your right hand, response time is amazing compared to your previous ride.
You'll soon come to terms with it and am certain will enjoy the ride :thumb_ups:
Few days back I was riding @kiffsta GSXR750 and found the throttle to be very responsive indeed.....made mental note myself
"slow down Phil". Did enjoy the ride, amazing motorcycle.
Sarah, you'll never be a fraud on this forum....we've enjoyed your journey and look forward to more updates "enjoy your new ride"

hi guys. daytona is going great. i love looking at it. :) signed up to superbike course in sydney next month!!

softening the suspension was so easy and effective.

next task - left side light doesn't work. right side comes on when i hit the high beam switch. doesn't do much in daylight.

read the specs and ordered the h7 halogen as per the owners manual

bulbs arrived, tried to replace, couldn't work out why the manual was making no sense.

turns out HIDs have been installed.

does anyone around here have any experience with these??? i've removed the bulb + cables... pic below and ballast pic

i guess what i'm asking is how do i know which parts/bulb to order (off ebay i guess? ) i don't want to order the wrong ones.... again!

    thanks!

the hid's will use xenon bulbs or something like that. if the working bulb on the right side is also a hid/xenon i'd try that bulb on the ballast in question to see whether its the ballast or the bulb (or the igniter) that is out. also i'd check before the ballast with a multimeter just to make sure it's getting current at all. considering how new the hid's probably are it's odd that they'd already be out since they usually last a while.

youll have to make sure you get the hid bulb and not halogen. hid ballasts are sort of like capacitors that ignite the salt in the bulb by discharging a high voltage spike which then drops to something more reasonable and constant for the rest of the duration that the light is on. it's entirely different from a normal lightbulb system.

i recently replaced one of the ballasts and a bulb in my car, in my opinion hid's are stupid, but they are brighter and supposedly last longer.

Hid aren't that good for lighting up the road in wet weather especially when you have something that it in the high range eg 6000K, 8000K
Autobarn might have a replacement part if you get stuck, but the kit's are expensive
This is one of their H7 conversion kit's
    https://www.autobarn.com.au/performance-plus-hid-kit-h7-6k-slim-ballast-35w-canbus-compatible

Otherwise you might be able to fit a standard H7 bulb if you can find a holder somewhere, it look's like your standard wiring is still there?
from memory the H11 bulb is just a H7 with a black base, that might fit too

thanks guys. if you take a look at that ballast it looks like its fried. anyway testing to occur this weekend hopefully.

i agree that i think HIDs are silly. not that i know much about them but watched a couple of vids on youtube and my RHS light works, supposedly high beam, but its not bright at all

however i suppose i'll stick with them now rather than pay an autoelectrician to rewire it back...

the autoelectrician i spoke with reckons i should get it rewired and go with LEDs but i suppose he'd have to say that :D

yes i bought the halogen before i realised - as per the manual

anyway on ebay you can't really get the bulb without the ballast so i'll replace both i suppose. i know i need the 35 w ballast just not sure which buld wattage and colour i should get... reccommendations.??

also i've been advised that a generic ballast/bulb setup should just plug into what i've already got wired in there.. as long as its 35 watt. does this sound right?

my right side light - as you can see, nothing special! no idea why whoever did this, bothered!

Bike originally had a H4 halogen. Just fit and plug into standard wiring.
