very good cleanliness wise, difficult to tell from the photo of the emulsion tube as it's a little blurry, any wear on this tube and signs of wear on the upper portion of the needle will cause issues and the bike potentially bogging (chugging) at random
I cleaned them out with thin steel wire from a steel brush and they look okay, just need to replace orings by the floats.
Gooday gentleman I got fed up with my motor not working so I have managed to slip a 400 motor in there with many many curse words and begging. Motor is in wiring is in bike has spark and now I need a set of carbs. My fairings wont fit anymore though. Trust me pics will follow I am super proud of myself.
FZR400 motor? Nice work. The 600 was heavier and people used to drop the 600 motors into a 400 chassis. I wonder if a 600 motor will fit the 250 frame? I'm having evil thoughts.
600 barrels and head on 400 bottom end is a done mod 400 motors are very rare here in Aus though, I am having evil thoughts also
If I could fit the 400 motor then the 600 can be forced in like a said my major issues is carbs and bloody fairings
If anyone has a set of Mikuni BDST 32 carbs I will gladly buy them. Additionally I have in my possession a shite load of fzr 250 3LN3 parts so just message me if you're interested. Also here is the big question will the bowls of the BDST 28 fit onto the BDST 32 carbs. Because i have a set of carbs but the idiot who cleaned it lost one bowl.
I got the motor from a friend so I'm not sure what model it comes from but the conversation went something like: Me: Will the motor fit? Him: We'll make the damn thing fit in there don't worry. A few hours later and she started up. The clutch seems to be a little seized up how does one go about mending it. PS. Instead of restoration it should have been bastardisation LOOL
Take a photo of the bowls and post it up. If the clutch plates are sticking, rev the bike in neutral to help unstick them. Riding the bike will also help.
I'll check tomorrow if it isn't raining, I still have some wiring to do anyway, as well as a shite load of bodyworj
I think that's more like a wonderfulisation Different (original 600) tank and airbox may be necessary for the engine airflow requirements What's the weight difference between engines, guesstimate...?
Hi guys I sorted out a minor wiring problem today, did you know the FZR 400 does not spark without the exup servo. I may get scolded for this buuuuuuut i cant get 32mm carbies so I took a block of aluminum and made a rudimentary adapter plate to be able to run the BDST 28's and they work well enough. Haven't been out for a drive yet but they rev up okay so lets hope for the best. Pics will follow a bit later first need to edit the size.
I am busy making the tail section solid, plastic welded the pieces together fiberglassed inside and body filler on the outside. I also manufactured a solid piece there where the front seat bolts in because that little plastic always seems to get lost. Here is my (very) rudimentary adapter plate, which seals very nicely. I had the age old "if it fits it sits" attitude. I have a goal in mind, minus the race bike idea but the paint scheme will be like that. One last thing I realise there is other threads about this but, 1. can i run cone filters on here 2. what upside down front end fits with minimal effort, the reason I ask is because the increase in weight is laboring the front shocks really badly, or can what can I do to harden the front end, thicker oil or what.
With the tail section being solid, watch out when you unclip the front lug's from the bottom / rear of the tank if the fairing's need to come off, the side rear section's need to be spread to clear the frame and come off Same with having a solid section behind the riders' seat, that need's to spread apart when you unclip the lug's on the centre area of the side panel's Pod/Cone type filter's make tuning the bike very hard, you need to spend quite a few $$ on jetting and then road/dyno testing to get it right
I noticed a way to get it off just takes maximum effort, I think I'll use the 250 airbox for now, main thing that makes it difficult to remove the rear section is the bloody seat lock but no matter, the seats coming off anyway I want to make it a little more race like and I don't want to lift there is enough weight as is haha. I didnt realise the 32mm mikuni carbs were so scarce in South Africa I might have to buy a set off fleabay but I am concerned about their condition and I'll need to buy inlet rubbers as well.
