Here is the comparison between the Neverland fairing and whats on the bike.

the Chinese DSCF6587 - Copy.jpg 6.JPG fairing also has Exup stickers which AFAIK the early 2KR doesnt have

Exup was introduced to the 1988 FZR250 model 3HX1/3HX2/3HX3, yours must be a 87 model if its not fitted

FZR250.com has a really good post on the differences between the models :

A closer look at the damage in pics and it looks like there is a coolant leak too.

Will take the lower fairing off tomorrow and check the leak.

that's not all that bad, could repair them......I can see they have already had some repairs done before.

I wonder if you cant find 2kr fairings easy how different the fitment is between 3ln ones and 2kr?

Im not too fussed with glassing them and I could do a good enough job fabricating replacements from 1.2mm alloy sheet if I had to and I will have a look at saving the old fairing when the weather warms up a bit more and then pop em in the loft or hang them on the wall till needed.

Im going to take a punt on the Neverland set because its good value even if I have to make a few tweaks and on closer inspection they match the set thats on the bike now.

My concern is that the old set are a brittle black plastic and will just break somewhere else as they have a ton or cracks and repairs already.

The other option is to con a mate into making a fibreglass 'Buck" and reproducing the fairings in Fglass but it will add some weight.

    UPDATE!

After some emails back and forth with Michelle from Neverland to get a custom set painted a similar colour and with no Decals I bit the bullet and spent James money on this set.

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/390698240658

They stressed that the colour was going to be taken from photos Id sent which means it wont be the same and for no added cost id expect some variation in the colour but they are sending a pic before shipping to make sure the colour is close.

    Pics when it arrives!

    You can count on it!

I will take lots of nice hi res pics etc when the kit arrives but from my research on this mob it looks the goods quality wise especially in regards to the mounts, ABS plastic and that its all blowmoulded.

I sent some pics of the existing fairing to them to make sure their product wasn't the same and it most definitely is not.

Any suggestions on mounting hardware? Im thinking stainless or anodised this time around.

I bought a very similar set from a mob in HK over ebay. I think its the same mob. Just a different name. My build thread is here with the unboxing:

    http://2fiftycc.com/index.php?threads/my-1990-tech-21-fizzer.1544/page-2

The quality isnt that bad. You get what you pay for. Its a cheap solution. But Ive had mine on the bike for 6 months with no issues. Ive had them off the bike a couple of times. No cracking. you may need to make the mounting holes bigger.

As for interchanging the fairings. I believe its a no go. I have had a 2kr & 3ln side by side and the frames are entirely different. One guy on there did adapt 2kr's to a 3ln, but I reckon that would have been some real head-scratching there.

Sounds like the same mob to me too and time will tell.
Its now 8 days and im told they fairing is in production so it sounds like a custom job for every kit.

Their speil says its injection moulded which i fond interesting because I KNOW what these dies cost to make and they would have to sell a ton to recover costs.

So long as they use ABS plastic im happy though.

Tick tock and Im hanging out to see these things as well as looking around for a project bike of my own now.....

Sorry about the delayed reply Moo, its been a helluva time the last few months.

The fairings arrived ok with no damage and were really well packed.
I asked for a custom colour with no graphics to match the existing colour and offered to send a paint sample but they told me they didnt do paint matching but if I send a few photos they could get close from the pics.
As most of you know matching colour from a digital pic or even with variances in computer monitor quality doesnt work well but it was that or in undercoat to I sent some high res digital pics in good light and amazingly the colours came pretty close.

So I stripped the lower fairings that were damaged and the boy rode the bike without for a while as the kit really needed all new mount hardware and grommets to make sure it was well fitted but again we got busy so I piked out and got Kev at the local Yam dealer to fit them while he did a service.

All in all the kit went on well and a few of the mounts were bent back into place as well as a busted stay on the head frame.

I think that for the money its ok and id buy them again.

    Pics to follow

    Tony

All in all the kit is ok, the "Free" screen cracked when the nuts were nipped up and is fairly brittle but as we had the original which was smoked anyway it went back on the bike.

There was a small amount of tweaking but some of the frame mounts had been bent anyway and the bike is 27 years old so id be happy to put the tweaks in the "**** happens" pile.

The Bike as a whole actually looks better with the replacement plastic and the boy is happy which is all that really matters.

And after nearly a month of daily riding in rain, hail and sunshine the paint is still fine and the bike scrubs up like new when washed.

The spray job isn't even close to my standards so don't expect good paint with fat edges and a mirror finish either but again its free and has stood up ok so far.

The fairing plastic IS brittle though but again its cheap and cheerful especially considering there's bugger all else available.

I also took the time to read some of the feedback received on this seller and most of the negative and neutral feedback was on the "Free" items or based on fitment issues and a paint quality whinge or 2 which may be issues but nothing better than you'd expect for under $500.

    Cheers

    Tony
