So I bought a new bike.... a ZXR750/ZX7R

    Luckily I bought some steels when I bought the frictions so I had a spare :)

    Not sure about that plate, has it distorted, lay it on a glass table & see if its flat
    She sounds great, I love the lumpy sound when at idle.

    factory spec is 122hp at11,800 rpm.interesting to see output with factory muffler.factory spec would be under ideal conditions.

    122 at the crank, and yeah ideal conditions, gotta remember this thing has 90,000kms on it :), I might give the carbs a clean one of these days.

    Didn't forks not back till Tuesday they sat on bench waiting lol but doing run next weekend at same price as it was a 5 day turn around now it 10+ but will post on my thread when she fires up talked to fella who races 250 at Warwick and knows my bike and says it had 43 last time run so fingers crossed it doubled with carb rebuild hahahaha

    Today I replaced the fuel filter and cleaned the air filter and re-oiled it, then went about checking for what would be making it run lean after replacing the pipe so I searched for exhaust leaks ( re torqued a couple of bolts).

    The fuel filter was really dirty I reckon it had been there probably from the factory some 13 years ago. On that basis I inspected the carbs and boy were they sparkling! The joys of a bike that has never sat :). So no reason for the bike running lean other then carb settings.

    I decided after some reading that as early revs and right up top in the rev range were pretty close to allright it was mainly between 3k and 9k that I might be able to get away with just shimming the jet needles. ( for those of you that don't know what this is it involves placing a washer on the tip of the jet needle to so it a little more open thru the whole rev range.

    This has definitely cleaned up the mid range the power delivery doesn't have a surge at all and throttle response is instant again in the mid range :). Micks tyres and dyno are doing another dyno day this month so I might make a run up there for a comparison chart :)

    So guess who made a rookie error today? Ding that's right it was me......

    Turns out my key comes out with the ignition still on and running late I flicked the killswitch and grabbed my key......

    So yeah completely farked battery, my boss helped me try and clutch start it to no avail, then we tried Jump starting it without success. Got out the multimeter and it was reading 6 volts lol, 4 volts with the ignition on.

    I stole the work van and raced down the local Marshall batteries to grab a highly marked up motobatt $120 I didn't have later. She fires first go so I leave work 70 minutes late then I make it home in record time as I had bowling which I made it with a minute to spare.

    Also after riding a little further today the slight carb adjustment doesn't seem quite enough, it now runs like abit of a pig below 3k rpm it is quite awesome from there on though.....
