Time to do some on the electrical side. First new plug wires. The roll I bought is exactly the same resistance (ie, none) metal wire as the original bits. Old bits ready for replacement. I cut the wires a bit longer than the old ones to have a bit extra to fit them. Using a scriber I 'flared' the ends of the wires to make them fit on the screw threads easier. One completed. I used two thick section O rings on the coil end as the old seals were all crumbled. Dielectric grease on the ends too. Job done, ready to fit.
Got the bracketry made for the top fairing. This is not an original (kept the originals for anybody who wants them) and I don't think I will bother running the bottom bits for drags. Quick access to the engine is more important than aero/looks at the track. Coils, carbs and airbox with new filter all in and cables connected. The real headache will begin when I start of what is left of the butchered loom. I have kept the intact loom as spares and will make this one a track only loom with no lights etc.
Laid out the re-made wiring loom (this is such a complicated loom for a bike, been giving me headaches for weeks) on the bike and connected all the plugs. Bought new motobatt and fitted. Starter works, spark at plugs, jump the fuel relay (its shagged, new one on way) to prime the carbs, full choke.... and nothing. Not even a splutter. Hmmm, wires to coils can go on two ways, so I swap them over and this is what happens. Have a water drip to reseal and will get the vac gauges on it when airbox back on but so far sounding good.

No word on if it does anything to the 180km/h limiter
Getting closer to hitting the track. I painted it with COB 1974 Ford mulberry metalic and a single silver stripe with silver stickers. Looks pretty shiney as is, but a polish will make it better. What? polish a racing bike- not effing likely. Haven't put the gauges on the carbs yet and still have to find the plastic covers I want to fill the headlight holes with. Tacho doesn't work and I bought a s/h replacement and it doesn't work either. Will take to instrument repair shop in town and see what they say. It has power and signal to it, but no movement. Seat needs a new cover too.
Today I got the gauges on the carbs. 1 & 2 were close together, but were different to three (which is the one to work off) and 4 was way out. All together and running happily now. Seat recovered with some black vynal from Spotlight material shop. Couldn't find the headlight protectors that I wanted to cut up to fill the headlight holes in the fairing, so cut some circles from 3mm perspex and heated with hot gun and moulded them to the fairing shape. Sprayed the backs with silver rattle can and siliconed them into position. Got the tacho working. Made a big difference when I put the earth wire onto the right terminal. Now have to fix the oil and water leaks from the waterpump and we should be ready to go.
Have replaced the O rings in the water pump and now no oil or water leaks. Yah! Took for a quick test up the local (street) track and all gears working, brakes working, instruments working and it starts easy and settles into a smooth idle. Think I'm ready for some practice on a quiet country road before the next drag meeting. Now ready to start on the good one ready for rego next year.
Did about 10Km up and down a quiet country road today, all seems to be running good. Need to adjust clutch and throttle cables, but expected to do that after a run.
