These bikes are getting super old and parts are getting harder to find every year. I think an especially good resource would be to create a database of parts that are interchangeable. This would essentially be an extension of what you can find on megazip or partzilla where different part numbers can be used to replace original parts.

Obviously there are going to be purists here that think the car should be 100% OEM but for me (a poor uni student), sometimes its not equitable or even possible to replace every single part with original zxr250 parts.

The reason I'm posting this is because i had a stationary drop just a month ago and have not been able to find any indicators that would fit. Could anyone advise of any similar parts that are a direct fit? The 98-02 zx6r indicators look VERY similar but i don't wanna drop $60 on non-returnable ebay parts in case they don't fit.

I'm happy to keep this thread up to date if people want to post and verify parts that are interchangeable if there isn't a resource already available? I've got a few ideas to add with pics for verification.

Would love to know everyones thoughts on this.

Good shout. Parts are certainly scarce in U.K. Including the Balius in this exercise would be great. Same cam chain no doubt..... I have already found cross over parts with Kwak ER5 which helped on side panels and some fasteners.

Some ZZR250 parts fit - fuel tap, ignition coils.
Also ZXR400 brake cylinders and levers.

I'm located in Melb. Haven't spoken to Vic Motorcycle Wreckers just yet because i wanted to find a (reasonably) sustainable source.

I just bought some ZX6R 636 '03-'08 mirrors and they're a direct fit to the ZXR250. By sourcing from newer bikes there is at least an element of longevity especially for items like indicators and mirrors that are likely to break.

I can get most engine parts no problems from japan. There a few that are no longer being made but most still very much available. Body work is the issue.

Don't think the coils would be any good as they are single plug wire ie, two coils to two plugs (the ZZR twin cylinder is a 180deg firing order) where as the 4 cylinder only has two coils for 4 plugs.

ZZR has two cylinders, two coils, with only one output per coil. Unless you have four coils on your bike, they are not ZZR coils.

And if you actually do have ZZR250 coils, then you're running on two cylinders and a miracle.
