I did it Wednesday, but brake rotor turned up for vtr, got a rwc later that day, finally. Now for sale, just thinking whether I register it, too?

I couldn't help myself. I've registered the VTR250 and rode it today. All of about 7 km, but nothing caught fire or fell off, that I noticed. :-D

I single-seater registered it (there's a form to fill out, now) so to make it legal without ruining the seat, I needed a cowl or something. Metal is frowned upon, timber was an option, but I went for a piece of polycarbonate. Cut a vague shape, heated it over a toaster with a piece of wood shielded the area I didn't want soft, put a fold for the strap and fold for the endow the seat. Considering how bodgy the workmanship and effort that went into it, it is surprising less ugly than I thought it would be. It got new spark plugs (starts easy, now), next is the oil and filter service. And hoping for a buyer, don't like my chances up here, they're not big on little road bikes, unless they are stupid cheap with rego rwc and everything. I'm at $1350; I expect offers close to half that from people who wouldn't even come look at it...

Collected the GL400 after getting the stator (burnt out quite badly), mechanical seal, shaft output seal and cam chain changed.
Cheap chinese rectifier was giving 15.5V so changed that for the 30 year old original and now getting 14.4V as required.
Temp gauge stopped working and was traced back to a very dirty connection to the temp sensor.
Nothing to do with the 250 which has been put away for a couple of months until I return from work and register it

Hmmm well its been a while but finally fitted the ikon shocks,de tabed the frame fitted a K&N air filter and rejeted, which fixed all the issue with the CV carb.. Sent the tank, seat and front guard off for a quick paint...whilst away at paint shop, I polished alloy, did the valve clearance, replaced the drive chain....think thats it :D now all I need is for the weather to improve so I can ride the thing and see what falls of.....hopefully not me

Looking really sharp now.. what colour is the tank etc... it is a little hard to tell in that pic if it is silver or a pearl white... either way it looks great.

I had 3 of my bikes out of the garage yesterday (Sunday), to start them up and run for a bit with new 95 fuel...
Both VTR250's started ok... the one with the open exhaust startled a few local dogs when I gave it a few revs.. lol. My closest neighbour asked me later if I had bought a Harley as he didnt think my "little" bikes would make so much noise :)
The problem child was the Across... it would start but then appear to run out of fuel... so I am guessing some gunk has gone through and I have a blocked jet... Grrr I just want to get it running so I can reassemble all the minor bits... paint the fairings and advertise it... I will pull the carbies again and check the jets etc... and install a filter in the line.

I was given a couple of mc22's from a guy in mount isa , he had 2 buggered engines and just wanted them to go someone who would use them rather than take them to the dump.

@ShaneP arranged to get them from mount isa to rocky and then brought them down to me on Tuesday.

I had a good look at everything in the boxes and there was a nice 1996 roller frame and a full set of tri colour Panels so I thought bugger this, I need to get this one the road. I had a spare 40hp Engine so this morning we put it on the bench and set about rebuilding it.

She is now a runner which is awesome, not bad for a days work.

Kudos for @ShaneP for bringing them down

I wish , but this was all about where my good wife wanted to go , I figure if she can put up with me for 20 Years then she can go where ever she wants.

I did offer to rent a bike in canne and ride up to Monte Carlo and she is thinking about it , watch this space
