    Hi guys!
I've just joined the forum as I'm trying to get an old FZX250 Zeal on the road.
I've had a quick look through some of your posts and the info on here is second to none! You guys rock!!!
I'm not gunna ask questions that have been answered already, I'll be sure to check existing threads first. ;-)

Once I've got the bike running well, I'll get a blue slip and rego and hit the roads! So watch out Sydneysiders! Lol.

Hopefully when I'm mobile, I'll look at 'playing' with the old Zeal a bit, to see if I can make her a little bit unique?
    Any suggestions, gratefully accepted.

    See you soon.
    :)

    :welcome:

I had a zeal for a while, I liked it. Front suspension was too soft however, and was better once the oil/seals were done and added some spacers. I still kept scraping the pegs on roundabouts though.

Usual things with these motors, people neglect maintenance like oil/filters and the timing chains go. Carbies are pretty good compared to the FZR's with wearing needles and emulsion tubes

Thanks for the quick response Linkin!
The bike has only seen 10k kms so I'm hoping the timing chain still has some life left in it?
Funny you should say, but I just took the bike to get the inspection, and the fork seals just started leaking onto the disc rotor!
I'll need to strip and fit new fork seals, but what do you mean by 'spacers'?
I'm kinda looking forward to scraping the pegs on roundabouts!!! ;)

    Welcome to the forum,
@Linkin added some spacer's on top of the spring's in the fork's to give it some preload and stiffen it up a bit

    I agree with you @kiffsta
The bike has barely been run-in!
I'll try and upload some pictures. :)

Yea the FZR has that already in it so Id assume the Zeal will too .... so yea a few washers or a small extra tube

We just went heavier fork oil in one of the FZRs and it made a noticable difference ... all depends on your budget

I'll let you know what the Zeal factory spacer looks like when I strip the forks to put new seals on. :thumb_ups:
As for the budget, well that's on a shoestring! ;)

I think I found some specifically for the FZR/FZX 250 a while ago but I didn't save the link, check the diameter of the forks and order the corresponding size adjusters.
