Hey everyone new to the forum just wondering if anyone has a set of FCR 28 carbs that are set up to suit mc19/mc22 i have tried a few sets of carbs on my bike and cant seem to get it too run right would love to start fresh with a newish set of fcr and avoid buying another worn set of carba thanks .
Hey Jacob Fcr’s are great for people with deep pockets and plenty of time to pay someone to tune them on a dyno. If you have a few sets of mc19 carbs, can I suggest you try a carb seal kit from litetek.co and maybe new needles and emulsion tubes . New mc19 stuff is very thin on the ground , however you can source keystar kits from Motocycle Spares Warehouse in Melbourne , might cost you a few bucks but you should end up with a nice set of carbs at the end. I have seen new sets of fcr’s going for $2000, another option is using mc22 carbs and airbox, there are a few guys running this setup. You have to remember that your mc19 carbs are almost 30 years old , the seals sit on top of a engine that runs quite warm and they do wear out over time, lucky we still have people making kits Kiff

Carbs usually just need a good clean and overhaul and some decent tuning and sometimes fixing some dodgy work by previous owners ... this forum is full of information on those things The most difficult thing to get right on these old inline 4s is the carbys http://litetek.co/Carb_Kit_Honda_CBR250R_MC19.html
I think that the Honda carbs, now that I own one, do not suffer the needle and emulsion tube wear like the Mikuni's because the needle is separated from the difference in air pressure, either side of the slide, by an o-ring. This means at idle it does not vibrate itself to death. Judging by the thickness and the state of the joint o-rings (the ones between the carbs) on mine I would think that replacing those is a must if your carbs seem dodgy. The Honda setup is not easily adapted but my solution is to bore an o-ring groove into the bottom of the slide. I just have not got around to doing it yet. Not enough hours in the day.
The carbs have been cleaned and am capable of tuning them myself the set i had worn out the needles and needle holder had ovalised causeca cruising richness so i knocked them out and replaced them with a secondhand set there a pain in the arse to get out and back in evenly with out slightly upsetting the needle heights im thinking this is most of my issue. Fcr are expensive i thought maybe a second hand set would go for around $600 obviously not a good running set of VG05's would be fine. Whats involved in fitting the 22 flat slides does the airbox fit under the 19 tank?
Can anyone help me what is required to fit the 22 carbs to the mc 19 i understand the airbox is quite different, so id imagine it would foul the snorkle on the tank and also the throttle cables are slightly different. Any one done the swap? Thanks
