funnily enough, I haven’t had too many run ins with johnny law , my bike is stock and I tend to obey the rules so I should be okay
The cops won't hound you in QLD, you have to give them a very good reason to pull you over. The real issue is snapcash (speed cameras). Watch out for redlight cameras that double as speed cameras; they see the rear number plate. You'll have a sore wrist from trying close the throttle all the time to keep it under the speed limit.
Here, "I see dead people" is not just a line from a movie Cops don't pull anyone over. The only exception being spot checks which are often for all of the scooter riders with no helmets. Maybe there is some connection? https://www.bangkokpost.com/news/general/1376875/thailand-tops-road-death-ranking-list
I've got a mate that comments on facebook posts about Thai drivers and dashcam footage - it's just atrcious, when the people aren't deliberately hitting motorcyclists or pedestrians or dogs they just do u-turns or cross 3 lanes without looking It's almost as bad as Sydney
Defensive driving takes on a whole new meaning here. I've seen two dead people, been deliberately run off the road, avoided a flying mattress, and ran over a dog (without crashing) all on my mighty step-through. My greatest fear is the hit from behind. The brakes did not fail. Thais use this excuse all the time.
Yep I've seen so much stuff like that - they're just lethal imbeciles behind the wheel - the "brakes failed" untruth ain't gonna work, you could hear the squeal from the skid - they're just so oblivious
OK.. so did a bit today.. played with the blasting cabinet and came to the conclusion that my little 6 CFM Direct drive compressor isnt up to the task.. but it did OK considering.. a couple of pics below. I did pick up a 12 CFM V twin 2.2kW SIP compressor from eBay.. the seller said it was noisy.. and boy he wasnt wrong.. he also said he had checked the bearings in the motor and they were fine.. no idea what he checked them with but they are stuffed.. noisy and lumpy as well .. as you will hear in the video.. You can see that the blaster is reasonably gentle.. one pic shows how the rear caliper bracket was before and then during.. it will be better with more Air to the gun. The last pic is the bearing from my front forks.. seems like there isnt a lot of the nice bearing material left.. Time to look for new bearings so the tubes dont get marked up..
The video of the compressor motor, the top bearing sound's like it has good compression, haha As i said before, my 17cfm @150psi compressor just keep's up with my bead blasting cabinet. It put's out a constant 85psi, unless i stop blasting for a bit
Until I bought a 17cfm twin cylinder unit I used to hook both my 9cfm and the toy 3cfm compressors together pumping into a house size old gas bottle to give a reservoir of air so that the pressure would hold longer when blasting.
I knew my existing one probably wouldnt do very much.. hence the purchase of the belt drive unit.. Hopefully it will do a better job.. than the direct drive one.. plus it has much more storage in the 50 litre tank than the 20 in my other unit..
I have thought of that.. I guess as long as both regulators are set at roughly the same pressure it wont hurt.. All I need is a Tee piece going into my hose reel..
I went riding yesterday. OK, so that's not much, but I did think about some things while riding (at boring speed limits), expensive thing! For instance, if I do 200km each week, that's 10,000km each year. My bike has just rolled over 74,000 on the clock, so in 3years it'll be over 100,000km - the magical death zone, like how you thought your grandma would die at 100 when you were a little kid. Take make it worse, I've had the bike registered less than 3 weeks and done nearly 2,500km! (Excluding the trip, that's still 1000km in 3 weeks - 17,000km/yr) So now we are thinking maintenance to keep the bike going, not just tyres, chains, sprockets and oil changes, but valve clearances, cam chains, piston rings, main bearings, big-end bearings, gearbox, wiring, radiator, hoses, intake boots and so on. Sigh. I am scared to do anything about the carbs because of effort and costs, let alone the rest. Guess I better start paying off the credit cards so I can afford a new bike, like a ninja 400, or R15, when zxr250 becomes exhausted. :'-(
Engine change for ZXR250 drag bike. Out with the C model engine and in with a recently rebuilt A model motor. Just waiting for some gaskets to finish A model engine. May need to revert to A model TCI to complete transplant.
Welded some 8mm alloy plates to alloy swingarm for wheelie bar mounts. Been at it for a while and put the hand piece down on the bench for a stretch/rest. Because I had been welding with high amperage to suit the thick plates (the end of the nozzle was growing red) I put the hand piece on the bench (not across my knee), not realizing there was an oily rag there. It instantly caught fire and in my panic to put the flames out dropped the hand piece on the floor breaking the still hot ceramic shroud. I grabbed the flaming rag and threw it out the door onto the concrete path and stomped out the flames. By this time I decided that I had had enough excitement for one day and shut the shed for beer o'clock. Some days are.
I was worried there might have been the bit where you said 'after stomping out the rag, I turned around to see the shed on fire...' Glad that it wasn't too serious. Though, I'm not sure how expensive that handpiece is.
Ah, now I understand. Well here to hoping today is better for you. I won't be doing any bike work for a while, I have a heap of uni due (soon to be overdue).
