Yup thats the plan . Not sure if should to do it satin finish like original or glossy. The existing paint is so thin and alot of spots don`t even have completer coverage
So after already having 2 different keys on my gpx I`ve decided I don`t want another key on my zxr flapping around scratching everything while the other key is in the ignition. Guessing the ignition barrel was replaced at some point in its life . Lucky the ignition barrel has a genuine key Byebye crappy fuki key Now the ignition, fuel cap and boot lock are all the same . Rearranging the wafers and filing one or 2 made the key work perfectly. Not a bad effort for someone who isn`t a lock smith. Gave the inside of the barrels a nice clean and lube with some graphite lock lube while I was there . Fuel cap lock is fairly worn though....
I feel sorry for the next guy when they realise the lock number doesn't actually match the key number haha. In saying that after putting in all this time and money I don't think it'll be sold for a looong time. RPM dual exhaust here we come
Gave the stator cover a good wash . Filed the front of it where it was all gouged from a low side . Then noticed it had a hairline crack in it Veed out the back and filled it with a bit of Devcon. Didn`t leak oil before so hopefully it doesn`t now . Bit of black gloss and she looks sweet
First batch back from the platers. All the engine parts redone and alot of the other parts. Should be getting the gold parts back in a few days.
Not quite sure to be honest but I think it`s zinc . It`s double plated . Copper first then zinc. I got it done through my neighbour as he knows the guy but it`s this place. https://g.co/kgs/dTTdHs Was a rush to get the stuff there as he`s shutting in a month time
Hmm bummer. Did you clean everything up first or just dump a load of dirty greasy nuts and bolts on him?
Nah nah haha I had them in boiling hot water with heavy degreaser for a few hours then brushed them , rinsed, dried then cleaned with thinners and finally wire wheeled all the rust ones . Also filed and sanded all the mangled bolt heads . Was alot of work
Also forgot to post but I was straightening many damaged fins on the radiator . Then soaked it in soap overnight to try and soften the mud that has completly blocked nearly half the fins. 4 rinsing and blowing out cycles and most of the fins are nice and clean . Now look at that photo ^ and spot the issue Yeap I spotted a bit of corrosion on the top corner of the tank . Little poke with a screwdriver turned into a big hole .... Guess it`s new radiator time
The silver around the hole look's like lead solder, if it's got brass tank's then you should be able to solder it up again. If you have trouble filling the hole use a brass screw in there then solder around the head.
Nope rad is all aluminium but the tanks still look soldered on . Will try and solder it first if that doesn`t work I`ll try and devcon it or find another rad . Trying to avoid pulling parts off my C at this point
Might need some low temp Ally welding rod's, work's well with an LPG torch, i've fixed fuel tap's with those rod's before. https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?...H_TitleDesc=0&_odkw=aluminum+solder&_osacat=0
You will need to be a pretty good welder to fix that hole. If you can find an old radiator repair bloke (who hasn't been poisoned by the lead from past years) he may be able to fix it. I would be looking for a new rad if it was mine, remember it is 30+ years old.. How much different is the ZX6 rad? https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Fre...aa7e-48e5-82aa-ae9c658818db&priceBeautifyAB=0 https://www.aliexpress.com/item/New...aa7e-48e5-82aa-ae9c658818db&priceBeautifyAB=0
