Decompression mechanism let's a lot of the compression off. Then you apply a lot of force and it kind of pops over TDC and runs quickly around to the next compression. But it has been a while since I've started one, so I might have it wrong.

The old Thumper. What a great bike. You just had to think about giving it some and the front wheel started lifting off the ground.

Started sorting out replacement bearings for the engine / gearbox on the SRX today.... wondering if they will be cheaper from an industrial supplier, Yamaha Aust (if they have them) or the likes of Wemoto, Megazip etc
Just wondering about others experiences with this.

Some bearings are special-made, might be made by NSK, for example, but have to buy as a motorcycle part because they aren't even listed by NSK. Not all bearings are equal. Remove the seals on bearings in the engine. Ask for trade prices!

Hmmm well around US$300 delivered for all of them off Megazip... I will be checking around for better pricing I think.

I registered the Across yesterday and took it for a ride. A working bike after a month of having the other 2 in the shed - yes, I have 3 registered bikes at the moment. Buzz (zxr250) might sit in the shed for a while and think about what choices it has made with its overflowing carbies..

I sold the trident today , to be fair it is probably a mistake and I should have kept it, but the new owner is a well known restorer and won best bike at the laverda show 3 times , I expect the old girl will be restored and put on show next year.

    Looks pretty good @Wozza
Do you have a ramp to get it up there? I like the tyre clamp better than the wind in item on my hydraulic lift... might have to change it when I get a chance.

Thx....yeah the ramp is an old cast iron step I picked up for $40...The wheel clamp is pricey but makes it a lot easier to just roll the bike into and it holds it up fine on its own...though working on the front wheel or forks is a no go...Might see if the rear can be rolled in never tried it :D

Finally finished rebuilding the kdx200 engine and gotten the ER6f back together. Rego is due on Buzz (zxr250) and I might let it lapse :'( seeing as I have 2 other bikes and Buzz isn't running really (carby float valves sticking, from what I can work out). I prefer the zxr over the other 2, but I'm working on another zxr (I have 4½ zxr bikes), with an engine swap... Engineering approval to come, but should be straightforward

Been working on these ZXR fairings for a mate over the last couple of weeks. They had been black, green, blue, purple, white, red and white again (with various undercoats between). This is how thick the build up of paint was.

I started sanding but soon realised I wouldn't live long enough to sand all this off.

I don't like using stripper on plastics but these were beyond easy, so bought some bumper stripper from paint shop. It took many goes but finally got back to plastic.

I welded the cracked and broken bits and finally got some filler and undercoat on them.

Using COB (clear over base) and some stickers make by local signwriter we now have some shiney usable panels (not to mention Kgs lighter). :)

Great work Murdo. I can't believe how many different coats of paint those plastics had on them.

Tried to start the wr250f, but no good. Cleaned the carby, resolder the coil wire, and tried again, same result. Those slide carbies are very finicky on MX bikes.. It could have other issues, too.

Sticky front caliper on my MC22. So got myself I piston puller. Ordered repair kit from Powerhouse on Ebay and fixed the sticky side and serviced the other one! Luckily for me, after some polishing, the pistons are fine.
    BTW, excellent kit:

Still breaking my mind if I should go the NC30 caliper route. Probably my old timer style of driving, but never had any issues with the scooter brakes....

And here I was using a grease gun and having to clean it afterwards.
