Yea saw that one in Greece ..... a battered box but not showing a filter .... yea Ill buy that ! ... a wally for sure they are expensive but I think they were totally unavailable years ago ..... mine is still the original that I washed , so I may just do that again ready to rumble ...
You'd think that seeing as the box has already been opened that he would of put a picture up of the actual filter I would offer $40 for it and see what he say's, postage from Italy is pretty dear but i'm not sure from Greece
There was a company in Taiwan making replacement air filters i remember coming across them on some Japanese owners blogs when i was rebuilding my bike. Iv'e the link saved somewhere but my bookmark folder for the fzr is about 500 links long ill have a dig around later when i get some time and see if i can find it.
This is a vague memory as I recall you had more than one set of carbs apart to make one good set, did you find that both the pilot and pilot air jets were consistent across the all four?
Correct .... but vagueness abounds here too and although I remember putting in new pilot jets I have no recollections on the air jets ... I doubt , due to their hidden nature and inaccessability , that any POs would know about them even (probably including me 6 years ago) I dont want to disturb them now as the carbs are ready to install ... I just pulled 2 from another spare set of 3LN1 carbs and they were both #105 from carbs 3 and 4 ... which is correct going on the specs below Ive done mine this time round exactly to this ...
There you go, it was only the pilot jets that would most likely get mixed, because I do remember your post from a long time ago showing the difference between the non-bleed from the 3LN1 and the bleed type from 3LN3 onwards. I was mostly wondering if they weren't matched non-bleed pilot with correct pilot air jet & bleed type with correct air jet then you may get the chugging. It was just speculation as you were still experiencing chugging even after installing the keyster tubes & needles. If you did remove the pilot jets from the jet housing I suspect that you would have noticed immediately. It just becomes bamboozling...
yea who knows what the outcome will be this time.... if it runs perfect I guess I wont know why as Ive changed a few things at once ... oh well ..... Ive even put the best condition factory needles in I could find with the keyster tubes carbs on , carbs off , carbs on , carbs off
I pondered a way to check OEM needles, put a straight edge; a razor blade against the upper portion which shows discolouration and see if some light makes it through, then you'll know if there is any discernible wear
Wheres the fun in that ... oh wait My theory and pure guesstimate is that the tubes wear long before the needles My filter looks pretty shabby
And she runs ... sounds pretty sweet too ... and just about starts first press also ............ road test will be the ultimate of course Need some new fuel , air filter and some mixture screw tuning
Just went for a quick fang up the street ... seems pretty zippy ... sounds so much better ..... needs a fresh tank of fuel though All the header pipes were about 110-115° so something must be working right
Thinking some new rubber would be a good move Whats your latest choices @Linkin @theapprentice These look interesting ... and cheap https://www.easyr.com.au/metzeler-sportec-klassic-130-70-17-62h-rear-t-l
Metzeler was always a great performance tyre in the good old days, not sure how they fare these days though.
