    The dating letter came through from Honda UK today. Mine was built in Hamamatsu on the 9th of March 1990.

    However, they have given the model as CBR25RRLK.

    Is this is typo by Honda or do they call the CBR250RR a CBR25RR?

    To me they have missed out the zero. To other UK owners, what does your V5C say?

    To anyone else, any info. much appreciated.

    1990-1991 cbr250rr l
    1992-1993 cbr250rr n
    1994 -1997 cbr250rr r
    1997 onwards bikes were cbr250rr r models that were 1994 spec (power dropped from 45 to 40hp to coincide with changes to Japanese law) that were unsold stock in japan and then exported to Australia with a few minor changes for Australian design rule compliance and are known as the cbr250rr r2

    yours by the dating certificate is a cbr250rrl and is the original mc22

    I have had feedback from Honda to say the YOM letter is correct and to confirm that the commercial name differs from the name on the Honda system. Exact quote is;

    “They also advised that It is very common for the commercial name of the motorcycle to differ from the model designation on the system and in most cases with older bikes the 0 is missing, however the information is correct.”

    I.e. What we know as a CBR250RR-L is a CBR25RRLK within Hondas internal system.

    So an MOT next followed by registration :)

    KAZ is the model code used for OEM parts for the MC22's so that is probably where the K comes from

    But the other CBR's (eg MC-14 KT7) don't have a K in the number list.

    I'm not too brushed up on Honda parts but I believe each model has its own prefix for parts, even if the engines are the same or similar. I know Yamaha parts have a prefix which is the model code, but you often get different prefixes depending on what model that part was used on first... my R6 is a 5EB but it has a lot of parts from the first R1 which came out a year earlier, which has a prefix of 4XV. Not sure if Honda do the same
