    Hi all I've bought a gf250

    GF250.JPG

the carbs were off the bike when I bought it, some questions.
Any diagrams for the bike,? Can't find any manuals
all 4 pilot jets should be the same size? #30 I belive

    DSC_1716.JPG

The wire from water temp sender is snapped and I don't know which colour it plugs to.
Any advice on the carbs? One of the pilot jet tubes is damaged, will fixing it with chemical alloy work?
    Thanks, I'm in the uk

Help yourself by getting the Litetek seal kits from @maelstrom and becoming a premium member to get access to the manuals. Metal alloy would work to rebuild the broken bit (eg Devcon or similar).
Sounds like you are going for a full rebuild/paint so good luck with it. Should be a nice bike to ride when done. Make a build thread with lots of progress photos.

I'm glad somebody else finally agrees they can be fixed, asked several carb specialists and they've deemed the carbs scrap

I've had a Lectron carby tig welded before, a post for the float pin was broken, my mate said it was a bit hard to do but it worked out fine

Some of the 'specialists' have a narrow view of things that can/cannot be repaired.
Show a photo of the broken bits so can get better ideas.

That all? Good clean with thinners or acetone, put a plastic hose of the correct diameter into the remaining hole and lay some Devcon or similar over it and mold to shape. Let dry and remove plastic hose and file to finished shape.

Currently waiting some some bits to arrive so investigated the wiring. one of the broken wires is to the fuel tank. I have done a video of me doing the repair and getting the float out on youtube

Removed top engine cover and it is incredibly good under there, belive now the 16k is genuine

Got the carb tube fixed(ish), jets fixed at factory height same as other three, new floats arrived, had to make a pin for it, have also found regular mikuni replacement screws too short for the bowls DSC_1747.JPG
Sure I'll soon see how successful the bodge/ repair has been, tested electrics with new battery, only the licence plate light not working DSC_1749.JPG

Still doing the carbs on my bike, according to the service specs there bsw26 the gs250fw are bsw24 and the gsxf are bsw 27 received_1654661474681982.jpeg can anybody tell me where the two pipes with t piece joiner goes to? Or if it even is on the GF as this is a gs fw manual when I got the carbs the two were joined without the t piece.
    DSC_1784.JPG
Have also bought the keyster needles, to replace the old ones, had to get then from Belgium.
Trying different chemical metal on the tube, I soaked it overnight in petrol and it hadn't fallen apart yet, so hopefully it stays that way, the first tank repairer stuff I got isn't petrol proof

The T piece you are talking about, does it have hose number 63 coming off it ?
If so then i'm guessing it connect's to a vacuum operated petcock

In the diagram yes I don't think the gf has a vaccum petcock so that would explain it

3 of the air pilot screws look OK, but one looks like it's been treaded at the end, and tapers inwards, this would cause bad running too?

Ideally i would be replacing that screw if you can

If you can't find one, the slight taper on the right hand screw may let a little more air through past the o'ring, you could try fitting a slightly thicker o'ring on that side, make sure you use some silicon grease to stop it getting damaged when fitting it though

Found a nos screw but I decided to check them all, need new o rings, 3 springs are the same, there's only one washer and then a load of random bodged springs, no wonder it never ran right DSC_1793.JPG
