DA RISKY IS HOME, started raining around muswellbrook but wet weather gear came out at lochinvar. cats and dogs weather.
good to see murdo and grey.
murdo fixed my brake switch so many thanks.[never introduced me to his lady friend but she adores him].
grey regaled me with many stories. good time had by all and the ride was superb on isolated roads and no video cameras on speedos.
the bandit could have outrun smoky.

Glad you got home ok Risky. No problems with the brake switch I hope. :thumb_ups:
He even won a prize on the raffles at the dinner. :dance2:

53 bikes entered. Peoples choice won by the 'Jaffa' Kawasaki 900 (photo 12) from Armidale. The red Honda CB72 best 60's, Jaffa best 70's, Honda CBX1000 best 80's, Honda XL500s best trail bike. Haven't counted the $$$ yet, but looking good for a sizeable donation to the Prostate Cancer Research Fund.

PS, the red Honda CB72 250cc (photo 15) has been owned by Ron from Narrabri from new. He bought it in 1964 and rode it to death, found another engine in 1968 to keep it going until it died in early 70's where it was pushed into shed. When he retired he dragged it out for a full restoration, using bits from both engines in original cases, to get the beautiful result you see here.

brake switch fantastic, pity murdo did not introduce his ladyfriend to me but scared of the competition[lol].he told me she had 3 big brothers.i really apreciated his help so a massive thank you. who won the jack daniel,s 4.5 litre bottle? did you collect it for me?still trying to get warm. the last hour home was cold and very wet.

the honda 1000 is a straight 6 with 18,000 miles on the speedo and imported from usa at a cost of 11 grand.has not been restored and is original. if murdo can nick it for me he can keep his girlfriend.lol...

    Hey Murdo
Please to hear that the week end went well, trust you made heaps of money for the research fund.
The bikes on display are great, to me that's the best part, fond memories of simpler times.
Ron's 250 Honda certainly stood out as I remember that bike well. Summer of 65 myself and 2 friends bought new bikes, mine was a red Suzuki 250 and friends were a Yamaha 250 and the other was the same as Ron's Honda 250.
We had those bikes for nearly 2 years and had very few if any problems with. Thanks for update mate.:thumb_ups:

Thanks Phil, hope you might get down to join us next year.
Ron loves his little Honda and rides it quite well. He was following me on the ride and at one bit of good road my speedo was sitting on +20, and he was right behind me.

Barry who rode in the T shirt rides a Hardley Ferguson. Gee, them blokes is tough.

Risky, did your mate on the trike get home ok?

    Thanks Murdo
Had thought about riding down, however am awaiting front fork seals to arrive. Previous week end we all flew down to Melbourne for a family get together so all in all time got away from us. However, will certainly give consideration to next years event if not before. Mentioned to Grey might head down Tamworth in the new year, am certain the smoke haze from Greys place will have dissipated by then and the Fzr will be ready to go. Will keep you posted.:thumb_ups:
P.S Only joking Grey:D Time to get the tools out of that new box and get that mother going.:lolsign:

You will all be pleased to know that our little ride in the country, dinner, raffles and show made $2,300 to go to the research fund to maybe help one of us or our sons to beat the dreaded big C.

I used to work on that Anson as a first year apprentice. My job was to make covering patches to go over the four machine gun holes in the nose.
It is made up from about three different aircraft (the wings were found on a tip in WA) and the engines were on a farm at Boggabri west of Gunnedah. It was put together at a hanger in Bankstown Aerodrome and transported to town, then the council built a shed around it. Looks good as you drive/ride into the aerodrome. These Ex RAAF Anson's were bought by the newly formed East West Airlines in 1948/49 and converted to carry 9 passengers on the Tamworth to Sydney route. The company only lost one of them when it crash landed in a paddock near Duri (south of Tamworth) in about 1952. The pilot (a captain named Swan) broke his leg in the crash but the passengers were unhurt. He was the only person to be seriously hurt in an accident in 35 years of operation.

murdo, as a first year apprentice you might have patched the holes but the plane had been out of service a long time before. your younger than me and fitter and have good taste in women. no soccer mums for you.LOL.
