    The story goes like this.

Customer brought an MT-09SP into work for a 1st service, which I performed and test rode the bike. Let's just say I was impressed enough to hunt for one.

After hearing where he bought it and for how much, and after riding it, I knew I had to have one.

Last weekend I went to the dealer and had a chat. Today we got the deal across the line, I paid my deposit and took delivery.

So without any further adoo, here is my new bike!

I pulled up beside a guy riding a spanking new MT07 or MT09 a few years and he was wearing a Cheshire Cat grin, I bet you are also right now

    Congratulations!

Yep the first time I saw an MT07 in person, a bloke on his red P's had just lost his license on it.

I've ridden them as well, standard and derestricted, and they are torque monsters, very easily get into trouble with police or losing traction without much effort.

As the members slowly defect to big bikes, just kiddin. Looks at least practical for the Missus Linkin to pillion on. Speaking of which, I'm surprised she doesn't want her own bike, everyone here rides. I bet you try something new before you get to 10000km.

Yeah she likes the new bike, but the lack of a rear rack causes her concern. I guess it's considered an emergency pillion retention device.

She also needs glasses before she would be able to pass the eyesight tests for a license here, did an eye test recently and she'll get her specs soon.

I've discovered that the front wheel and top triple clamp/handlebars are ever so slightly out of alignment, guess I've got something to do at work on monday.

Great, I'm loving it. Happy with my choice. But can't take it over 6k RPM until 1600km. Some weekend rides are in order.

Been raining so it already needs a clean, but I'm not shy of the weather... just hate the muck accumulation on a new bike.

The handlebars and front wheel are slightly out of alignment from the factory, so I need to fix that.

I advise taking it to redline as soon as the engine is warm. The running in stuff is nonsense.

Yeah, nice bike, enjoy! I took an MT09 out a couple of times for testing last year. Very responsive and twitchy. I couldn't come to terms with the modern transformer/preying mantis look you young fellahs seem to like though ( I just turned 70) so opted for a Jaffa Z900 RS instead. Still more than toey enough for my declining reaction times and need for speed though with enough styling elements of the 70s to keep me happy.
That lopsided instrument panel would make anyone think the front wheel was out of alignment ha ha.

Which year model did you take? 2017 onwards has the newer styling and revised throttle modes. A, B, and standard. A is twitchy and offers the most response, B is like a rain/wet mode, and standard is what I have been using.

Traction control also has anti-wheelie, smart system.

I took the bike for its first proper ride yesterday, to the old pacific highway / pie in the sky for a late breakfast and some good corners. No police, thankfully, but a 40km/ zone due to tree clearing going on.

Thought it would be a good idea to knock the first service on the head rather than waiting to hit 1000km will oil full of swirlies after a spirited ride.

Headed to work after TAFE and got busy.

I'm having a consistent problem with the steering coming out of alignment even after I set everything true and torque it all up. I'm probably going to have to adjust the steering head itself to stop it for good.

I also found the chain out of alignment (using a laser alignment tool), and tyre pressures nowhere near specification. All part of the dealership experience I suppose. Everything always goes well on the sales side, and I know what dealership workshop pressures are like, but customers should rightfully expect a brand new bike to be perfect as far as setup for the customer goes.

Doesn't matter as I will be servicing this bike myself to make absolutely sure everything is done properly and on time.

Back at work after TAFE again, I had some goodies turn up. Oggy knobs for the frame and both axles, a case protector/slider for the alternator, and a ventura rack kit. Got busy again.

Had a play with the suspension, mainly the front, and settled on 2 clicks softer on the compression damping from start - much more compliant and less twitchy front end that also soaks up small bumps better. More predictable in steering and holding a line.

Have to play with the rear a bit more as its still upsetting the front end over small bumps.

Rechecked and re-torqued all the triple clamp bolts as well.

You will never get the suspension right unless its tuned by a pro ...... since owning the Daytona Im convinced of that ..... Im going to get my done and set for my weight and riding .... it also needs servicing , which yours wont , but it will cost me like $800

So many flaws in new bikes (and cars too I would assume ) .... the Daytonas had plenty , even as far as on the first gen the oil dipstick was too long giving a false measurement (low oil) :commando: .... and recalls arnt that uncommon

    https://www.productsafety.gov.au/re...ltd-daytona-675-and-street-triple-motorcycles

And heres a fine example of your MTs

I would be very careful of what u do on your bike that may void warranty and such .... and dig deep to see if your problems are widespread or that u just have a lemon
