Will you be running the rubber heatshield above the coil's ?

Thanks, I was checking spark on my zxr250 today and the stock coils seem very poor on spark output, I tested them as per the manual and they test ok just the spark seems really weak.

Yes, I won't ever go back to standard coils on a ZXR. COP all the way for me.

I think I'm going to go for a set of 129700-5430, I haven't ridden the bike yet but I think the stock ones will definitely give poor performance looking at the size spark I was getting across the plug gap.

It's almost impossible to say, but I know whenever I've run against Murdo at the strip, I find my bike pulls a little harder in the high revs. Murdo runs an unrestricted TCI and his motor is bored out too, so given we both weigh the same, I put the difference down to the COP's on my bike reducing the number of misfires at higher revs. I guess the best test would be for Murdo to go to a COP setup and see if his bike goes faster.

Just confirming the ba ford connector plugs are the correct ones for the 129700-5430 coils?

@Linkin where did you get your wiring plug's for the coil's ?
I know that the 129700-4400 coil's use the BA Falcon type plug's,
i reckon the 129700-5430's would be the same but Linkin should be able to confirm it?

So I bought the plugs linked above and they fit and appear to be of good quality.
I have wired them up and done a test fire of the plugs out of the motor, I have to say it is an impressive spark improvement over the factory coils and really shows how poorly the original ones were performing.

Are you able to measure the secondary Ohm's of your coil and the length of the coil so i can update the coil spec's/data please ?

    overall length is 127.7mm
    Primary is 1.3 Ohms
    Secondary is 11.5 K Ohms
these were all measured on the coils.

The service manual has the primary windings from 0.85 - 1.15 Ohms and secondary as 9.2 - 13.8 K Ohms

Can anyone tell me what gauge (copper core cross sectional area) wire the standard ZXR A coil primary side is?
I have ordered stick coils with sub loom from ebay (ZG1400) and I am now sourcing a FURUKAWA RFW-C-6M-B 6-WAY CONNECTOR KIT that has the option of the connector being pre-wired with pigtails (to connect to original primary wires RED RED GREEN BLACK)
My options are 0.5 mm, 1.0 mm or 1.5 mm copper core cross sectional area.
    TIA

1.5mm cross section wire should be more than enough, iirc the highest Amp's my COP's have pulled is 7A
1.5mm should be capable of 18A consistantly with a peak of 24A
