Yep thats the one I'm after. Doesnt seem to be shipping here yet, thanks for the link though. Current plan is grab another set of forks, order the bushing and then swap them around when my original set is done. Then write a very detailed guide so no one stuffs it up as bad as I have lol
Do you only need the top bushes? top fork bushes- 35mm id, 8mm tall, 2mm thick https://www.brooksuspension.co.uk/35-00-x-8-x-2-00-genuine-fork-guide-bushes/
Oh yeah that doesn't look too bad. Whats the shipping times like, if youve bought from there before. Im erring towards another set of forks cos i really want this bike done around mid October and that lets me do the fork rebuild in my own time
I've never used them sorry. I found that site when i googled the part number which is also used on another Yamaha The dimension's may help you find some bushes locally from a suspension place. The guy that posted it also mentioned he had used some cut down bushes in his fork's previously
Bit of an update. New forks on, runs on all cylinders, new plug caps are all on the right plugs, new reg/rec puts out a cool 14.5v at 7krpm. Took her for the first test run since about march and im pretty pleased. Basically just gotta do the rego stuff like indicators and getting the bloody rear brake switch to turn on the brake lights at the right time. Might need a new flasher relay but other than that, this projects on the home straight...
Things are really starting to wrap up now. I'm planning to try and get a roadie this weekend and registered after that. I've put plans for a cosmetic facelift on hold for a while, mainly from lack of time. But id like to do it some day... After test riding it for a while, I've got 2 questions. What's the blue light on the dash indicate? Because I haven't figured out what it indicates. Next is theres a noticeable bog around 9krpm that clears up at about 10-11k. Is this that rare? Ill probably update this thread a few more times as I get it registered and so on, but yeah very close to saying complete project
Blue light, is that the high beam warning light ? Only other thing i can think of is an 80km/h warning light, don't think my 3LN3 has one though? And the bog, have you set up the EXUP cable's with a couple of mm's movement
Yeah I thought as much. Its probably just a did globe. Might pinch the speed light one and see if it fixes. For the exup, I just wired the valve wide open since the ecu is actually the non exup type, even though the current exhaust is exup
Thought I'd do a final wrap up of the thread. Bikes all registered and legal after some hoop jumping courtesy of vicroads. Thanks for being the most genuinely helpful and knowledgeable forum I've ever seen, you saved me so many headaches. And thanks to the JIS screwdrivers which makes Stanley's look like dollar store crap. Hopefully this won't be the final project I have here and hopefully I can help others with theirs. Cheers
Great work, congratulations and you've got the spirit of this forum beautifully summarised - pay it forward
