    Oakburn Park Tamworth

I cant find another copy of this promo vid , only from facebook
But it looks like theres going to be a proper "racetrack" initially and increased in size at a later stage as well as the ⅛ mile strip and increased to ¼mile in the last stage also

hopefully Ill get to use them before Im only staring out of the nursing home window every day

With there being some personal changes in council, one of the 'roadblocks' has gone and replaced by younger enthusiastic persons who are very much excited by this proposal. There will have to be some 'corrections' to that plan for it to work but the basic layout is as per the original from 1990. Soil sampling was to be done in January 21 and the bulldozers to move in after that. I am hopeful that after all the work I put into Oakburn Park during my time involved with the sporting car and drag racing clubs that it will be a financial success and that I will still be able to ride by then. :)

Nice! We (Rockhampton region) are talking about a racetrack, too. But they are changing mayors, as well as neighbours complaining, so fingers crossed...

Yes, the whinging neighbour is a big problem to any developement. When doing the noise tests at Oakburn, one bloke over 3Km away over a hill made a big fuss and caused lots of drama. He has now sold out and moved. The closest neighbour (across the road) was all keen to see the tracks go ahead and said to me "let me know when it's on and I'll bring the family".
The circut Italia north of Newcastle had a similar problem with a barrister who owned a property at the end of Italia road (10Km away) and didn't want his weekends to be disturbed after living in Sydney all week. :(
    Bit about it here.

Well, given all the BS with state borders closing faster than a fish's butthole, it's hard for me to get too excited. I guess I'll commit one or two days before the 6th? Any local lads planning to show? @Linkin @GreyImport @risky @Grasshopper

You make a good point Chief.

I have to come up to give Murdo some more bits for his VT250F project and to pick up a bike he has in storage for me, so my plan will (covid restrictions permitting) probably be to drive straight to Gunnedah to race on the Sunday and then stay in Tamworth for a few days before heading home. I might try and get to the nostalgia/hot rod show (Thursday) on the way home. I don't want to get stuck in NSW due to border closures, so I will have to monitor the situation.

Thanks Chief. Looking forward to seeing everyone again. This Covid BS has really thrown all of us under the bus. Great, I need a new hat. My Tamworth hat has almost gone to meet its maker! Not sure we should let Mr. Murdo boil the water. As you know, he has an 'interesting' jug. Every time I turn it on I almost expect sparks and a small shock! Fingers crossed for racing on the 6th/7th. As I said, looking forward to catching up with everyone. I'm even looking forward to the drive up. I bet you and @Murdo never thought you'd hear me say that! Cheers.

Could be worse: you could get stuck in Victoria! :D

Pulled the drag bike out of mothballs today. I have a few days to get her running before heading off to TAS for a while. I think I get back to VIC on the 4th of March, so enough time to get her loaded and ready for the trip north. Bad sign...wouldn't start. I made a few changes during lockdown, but never got a chance to do a test & tune session. I know Cylinder 2 has low compression, so this engine will need a rebuild at some stage. Cranking, but not getting fuel. I'll have to pull her down to see what's wrong.

Ha ha. Being stuck in NSW isn't the issue. The issue is I need to go through VIC to get to TAS. If they still had the Ferry that went from NSW to TAS, then that would solve everything.

Thanks for posting Chief. My ANDRA licence lapsed years ago when the whole ANDRA vs IHRA thing started up. As long as I can get a day licence, then I'll be fine.

I'll have to wait and see how Covid Roulette plays out before confirming anything.
