Great work. Keep at it. We are itching to hear it run.

You aren't the Lone Ranger there Mate,,,,,,
I was itching to start mounting the carbies, and associated linkages, but revisiting forward backwards land always seems to happen :idk:

As we move into a new month, I'm pleased to see the end of July, which, for me, was a groundhog month, due to discovering the main bearing shells I used in one engine half were too snug, due to carelessness from a previous "repairer" who somehow managed to drop something pointy onto #4 crankcase main bearing area, under the bearing shell, resulting in a "dent" so minute, it could not be felt.
I hit the area with some cardboard backed 1500 wet'n'dry, sat the crank in place & pulled the wet'n'dry thru until the invisible ridges around the ding were gone, this enabled everything to turn freely, but I thru a thinner set of bearing shells in, just to be safe.
This project is my hobby, my job & my addiction , but there's no rush, so long as I do something to it every day I'm happy, when this is something I've not done to it previously, is icing on the cake.
Why is it the wind picks up the day after an engine is stripped ?
I need to figure out a starter, as there is not enough room 'tween the cylinder banks to fit the OEM starter, so I'm planning on making an adapter using a dead starter armature, it's bearings, two CB250 crankshaft cam chain sprockets, some 25H chain, & a CB250 starter, which is twice the OEM 250/4 starter & hopefully, has more torque.
Windy , dusty days give me think tank days, and I think I'd better make a start on some exhaust pipes soon, 'cos startup is getting closer, day by day :)

Damn that looks sexy, 8 velocity stacks - something which you'd usually see in an F1 car

Was there a reason why you didn't think about running straight intake runners and crossing them over. So each carb bank installed above the opposite cylinder head?

Room. or the lack of it, to cross the runners, they would need to be "squashed"

What are the carbs ? If they're the Yosh things I understood they wouldn't go past 45 degrees.

Iv'e been hacked, said the Guzzi V50 frame to it's new resident in waiting (I need to redo the intake manifolds using custom 85 degree mandrel bends, which also require a wee wait while they get made in SA)

This thing should sound like 1/3 of an F1 car when it is finished... That would be the older more loved F1 Naturally Aspirated high reving machines... I am loving the work.

I'm waiting for some kind person to donate their damaged MC19 crankcase 1/2's to the cause, seeing that cutting the block away from the gearbox results in destroying the gearbox case section,so cutting the gearbox section off would render the engine cases scrap, maybe, just maybe, could use one of the MC19 "left over" gearboxes I have, but I dont not have any "good" cases left. then thru a 90 degree 1/1 bizzo to retain chain drive ?
Way back in high school, 1st form woodworking class (compulsory) I spent the whole year poking a chisel thru the bottom of an unfinished savory bowl, I ended up "borrowing" a classmate's reject bowl as my own to get some marks,,I took metalwork the following year,,,
I'd like to retain the timber rear engine brace, but, as you know, it wooden handle,,,

Did you notice that my mind's eye thought the carby linkages "might" clear the tank (that does not exist,,yet), so once again,,I'll do some mods to the support bush (possibly just turn them 180 degrees)
