It's not good, but it is Betta, now.

Dropped the box of bits to be chromed today. Blimey it isnt cheap to have good quality choming done.
This guy is good though. there is a big Hot Rod community down here and he is the go to guy for all their work.
Hence why there is a 3 month wait on my parts being done... Still he is gong to dress up any areas that he feels need it to get the best finish.
Just more expense on an old bike....lol

    Nothing happening on the bike.
This is my view from Albury Base Hospital.
A severe bout of Acute Pancreatitis floored me yesterday.

That's not good there buddy. Have to admit the room look's nice though. Hope your stay isn't to long.
I don't think the hospital staff will let you take the bed home to use as a bike lift though :lolsign:.

Nah, don’t need one now. Or I can’t fit one in more like it.
Less of a room. It is a 4 bed ward but it is ok. For now anyway.

Been messing with the YZ 125, dealing with a flat spot at low revs with full throttle. I've ran out of adjustment on the needle, might try a standard muffler. Might have a few other tasks to do, too

I did what we would all like to be doing more often- get out there riding. One of the joys of retirement. I put in 300 km on the old GS all around the Scenic Rim area of SE Qld. Lots of curves and hills, few cars, and great weather- fine and 26 deg. Perfect. 0499650B-6A35-4733-A169-3A9DFA5F763A.jpeg Each year the little country town of Kalbar has a festival, and lots of locals and businesses make clever things out of hay bales. This is just one of many I saw today. The word ‘hay’ is integrated into all the captions. This one said “Crust hay Demon on a ‘HayTM”. Another consisted of two well rounded bales, side by side, complete with pink circles, captioned “Check your Boob-hays” , presumably referencing the breast cancer campaign.

Well, yesterday I pulled the engine out of the old YZ 125, tried tuning the newer YZ 125 (need to change the pilot jet), dropped the motor out of the VTR250, stacked some bikes in the storage shed, did one little (though much procrastinated) job on CBR 400 and crashed the trials bike. Great thing about trials bikes is their slow speed, so accidents aren't so bad. Today I did a bit more riding, still learning techniques and trying to break habits. But get the basics down before you try the challenging stuff. Hashtag goals?

Cleaned up the CR250 a bit. Need to hit it with the polish and maybe a fresh set of graphics before it goes up for sale. Will hate to see it go, but at 6'2" it's just too damn small to ride all day on technical trails for me. Being a 2 year chassis, parts selection is utter crap so making it fit isn't an option without compromising elsewhere.

Cleaned, lubed, and reset tension on the 919s chain. Need to rip the rear shovel off and remove the swmotech blinker relocation bracket. Someone recently posted up a better method to relocate the blinkers that weighs at least a pound less (not that it matters since she's over 500lbs in full naked form)

Formulating plans for the rest of the stable. Have decided a few more bikes have to go once they get some love, but want to get the CR out of the way first. Will dump the money from the CR back into the stable to get some bikes running. Will be parting out at least one. The rest? I dunno, but I hope to get them back in great condition and ride the piss out of them again.

Too many bikes, too little time.

Overflow bottle is fine , alas looks like a head gasket as there are bubbles in the radiator when I rev it .. sigh.

Oh well , the joys of owning older bikes

Getting a head gasket from Xcitebikes

Going bonkers with a hacksaw a drill and some bits of metal a hammer, knocking up some hidden brackets to hold the standard clock set and headlight to the USD front end that I am fitting to my R1-Z250.

    Amen, brother!

There's a test kit that reacts to CO2 to see if the bubbles are a head gasket or just air in the system. Bummer

For those playing at home , I pulled the head off the mc22 to replace the gasket and noted that one of the head bolts between 2 and 3 was a bit loose , when I inspected the gasket I saw it was leaking between 2 and 3 , after a closer inspection I could that the threads were coming away where the loose bolt is .

Quick call to my machinist and he said he will sort it out for me. I have dropped the engine to him , hopefully will have it back tomorrow :)

My bike is still having trouble with consistent starting and smooth running. I removed the YDLS carburettor yesterday and have ordered a 3-litre ultrasonic cleaner that should arrive next week sometime. I will then thoroughly clean and replace all of the tuning components, fuel lines, fuel filter, etc, to see if things improve.
