has anyone done the zxr250 front end onto a 3ln conversion or know of anyone who has , i just want too know if you need 3ln bearings zxr bearings or a different set all together ??? fingers crossed someone can help
thanks i cant pull myn apart till i grab the front end . the bearing sizes are 25mm X 48mm and 30mm X 48mm i got those numbers from here so don't quote me on that.. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/HEAD-STO...pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts_13&hash=item3cab439512
When u do all these conversions please take plenty of pics of the progress as Im interested to see how they go and look. The new tail should be very interesting (can u put up your location in your profile please mate)
so i got the tail yesterday i missed a couple pics along the way but im not nearly done . i have a street fighter 3ln as well so the tail will go onto it then the front end and all the other parts will move over due to a small weld in the frame im using on the track type bike so i removed 2 tabs on the top sub frame bars ( thats the pic i missed , showing them on still) then drilled 10 mm holes 69mm in from the very end of the top bars . then drilled the holes all ready on the bottom bars from 8 to 10 mm the sub frame now bolts straight on i also managed to make a little cut in the original tail light socket to fit the old fzr socket still a way to go tank mount exup motor mount battery tray mount an exhaust bracket some trimming a bit of foam glued to the tank as a 1cm or so gap will be between the tank and seat
so i have the zxr 250 front end now thanks to kiffsta for supplying that at a great price its starting to go on now , ive also discovered you need a 3ln top bearing 25 X 48 on both sides few pics of the triple clamps on , waiting for a mate who wants to see it go together to get here
a little , i used a rotary tool to cut the side then tapped it off . was a little scared the 3ln bearing wouldn't match but it does , maybe 1mm clearance at the bottem of the head and the bottom triple
the front end is on , rolling frame again also made a bracket for the tank just needs welding on im a bit messy lol
so the seat came today woop woop nice shiny red and now the real drama starts the gap between the seat and tank is way more than i was expecting now to shorten the bolt points and bend the frame to match the new points one side bent up on the anvil so the new holes match the deltabox mounts other side is done too the pics more to show the difference
so the tail is on test ridden and running weird idk how to explain it maybe an airbox prob from the changeover but as far as steering and control its beautiful , thanks again kiffsta those forks are magic just what the docter ordered now heres a lot of pics if anyone can tell me what the pink stuff is siting in the engine intake that d be awesome it was in the carbs too i think any questions hit me up
Looks slick mate Seat fitted in ok in the end? Is the exup working ? When u fitted the R6 shock did u make those dogbones and did u follow someones elses measurements for them ? Where did u source the shock from and how much did u pay for it?
i was lucky enough to find one on ebay from brisbane for 115$ id ask around the track rider forums i had the dog bones holes measured and drilled by an engineer and yes i got the idea and measurements from http://fzr250.com/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=3554 the new bones are 8 mm shorter measured from hole centre to centre i ddnt mind them being chunky so i just rounded the edges and made a groove for the rebound adjuster oh and the seat just fits it may wear into its spot better over time i hope the tank on the aprilia must be a bit narrower and the exup is working as to whether it needs correcting im not sure but there is something not right i ddnt touch the carbs just off and on so i assume its the exup changing spots and tension on the cables or the airbox not seeling somewhere , and the over needed balance
http://fzr250.com/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=3497 this is where i want to go with my bike , i think he airgun painted his ill have mine powder coated i would like to know what shock he used ( not many users left on the fzr250 forum ) im not even sure he finished it
