It would have shown up as organic material (carbon-chain compounds), and checked to make sure it wasn't organic material (from an organism: meat or plant products). There's some unusual food products that are pulled up in the Border Force show...

Well he hasnt brought it yet but it may well be the last time I will use Impex out of Japan.
I ordered the seals for the SRX forks as it worked out a bit cheaper than Megazip and I wanted genuine Yamah parts.
I was notified today the parts were in so I when I got back home from my Hyundai killing trip I logged on to pay the DHL freight and was amazed to see that Impex wanted 6500 Yen for packing and DHL for 0.060 grams of fork seals.
I tried to argue with them that this was outrageous as my shipment from Zenmarket was 32 x 25 x 13 cm and weighs 6.7kg and was only 5127 Yen.
Their explaination is it is only an estimate and the final figure will be after packing and shipping... I doubt I will see any refund... The DHL extimate for 100 gram envelope is 2880 Yen. This could end up with Paypal as a dispute yet...

As an uptate to the above... my parcel has now been shipped and as yet there has been no reconciliation of the shipping charges or a refund... the only response I have had from "Pavel, Managing Director" is "please wait"....
As you can see below... there is a massive discrepancy between the last time I ordered and now... plus I think 120 grams is their "minimum" weight. Screen Shot 2022-02-10 at 9.44.57 pm.png

Hi Andy, I recall being surprised at the freight cost when I ordered some stuff last.
I think IMPEX might err on the safe side with the packaging they use. They appear to use way bigger packaging than what is actually needed. Probably to protect the goods and minimise any transit damage claims. Couple this with all the recent COVID related freight complications and that might go part way to the increase.
I always try to source small orders locally to avoid all the hassle. Still economical on big orders.

    Peter.

Yep... I dont have an issue with their packaging, it says 0.12kg or 120 grams and while overkill it is no different to what they sent me 12. months ago. Freight now is no different to 12 months ago, in fact there are more planes in the air now.. yes... AF prices have gone up but....... to charge 6483 Yen for a package that last year cost 2235 Yen is not on... especially when I have another shipment coming from Japan (from Zenmarket), again via DHL which weighs 3.6kg and is only 5127 Yen shows what the real freight cost is... even Impex's own freight calculator shows that a 120 gram package is 2880 Yen.
I would have used local but I preferred to use original Yamaha parts and local just didnt want to know about them.
After this will I use IMPEX... no way... never again, regardless of the outcome. they get you by insisting you pay for the goods before they order them. ONce they have arrived you are at their mercy.. you have already shelled out for the parts... then they will slug you on freight as they have done here... Theives is all they are... end of rant. Express calculations are in increments of 500 grams, so 120 will be charged the same as 499. The prices shown look right but 6483 Yen? No way. I would be causing a stink about that. But DHL are terrible here for tacking on charges when it arrives.

Strangely "Pavel, Managing Director hasnt responded to my message" I am not going to give in until I get my refund... happy to pay the recommended 2880 Yen plus the Aussie charges for Grab Snatch and Take but Impex look like they are in competition with the Aust government... :)

I just had a look at some youtube reviews on that 3D printer and it does a pretty good job. What sort of stuff are you going to print on it @ShaneP ?

    Plastic.

Yeah, smarty pants. Looking at doing a few motorcycle parts that I want cast, so I can make the part in plastic, they will make the mold and part, then I can get it machined... It is sounds expensive.

@GreyImport maybe I should try making some ZXR fork lowers lugs?

Plastic might last longer than the OEM part :)

OK, my SRX 3WP triple tree arrived today from Zenmarket... all 3.6kg in 1 box as shown below...
Slightly more than the 120 grams from Impex... yet surprisingly it was nearly 1000 Yen cheaper than Impex.
    How can that be?????????????
Hmmm sarcasm doesnt really work when you type it... sounded really good. in my head though :)

Zenmarket are very transparent about the costs and fees. I use Jauce to search and Zenmarket to buy.

Yep... well I will NEVER use Impex again... this is the response I had from their Managing Director
    Screen Shot 2022-02-14 at 6.25.14 pm.png

I also sent them this from my Zenmarket account
    Screen Shot 2022-02-14 at 6.16.08 pm.png

The response I got back is that I am in a "Remote Location" to which I call BS.
Anyway... no more about that pack of Russian theives...
I guess I need to find a reasonable alternative to Megazip now...lol

    Good luck.
Let us know what you find.
The options are fairly limited when you are searching for cost effective genuine parts sources.

Same experience here, if you have parts questions they are also quite responsive.
