    Don't you love playing with bikes that someone has supposedly already improved????
    There are always heaps of hidden little issues to consume your time.
    Part of the fun of resurrecting these classic machines.

    Other than the missing fairings, streetfighter dual headlamps and Lectrik issues this one is pretty good..nothing seems to have been tampered with or butchered on the frame etc so hopefully @GreyImport managed to snag himself a nice little Drag Bike :)

    I actually watched a couple of episodes on Youtube recently :lolsign: ..... alot of the old TV shows from the good ol' days are there .... makes u feel really old though but great watching.

    Its like shes in the pits already ...... :D

    So got to the point of seeing if it will turn over ..... I hadnt done anything with the front electrical jumble sale except to make sure no bare wires were touching
    Cleaned up the fuse holder and put in a new 20 amp fuse
    So the digital dash cycled thru as digital dashs do .... even had a neutral light
    The EXUP also did its cycling as it should
    But then all we got was a buzzing starter solenoid and flashing lights on the dash

    At least there was no need for the fire brigade and the fuse held out

    Next will be to investigate the solenoid or bypass it

    I think there was mention of that in the original ad but my seniors brain cant remember the details :idk:


    So if the clutch switch is unplugged/removed and also the sidestand switch , what happens? ... do you need to bridge the wires ..... asking for a friend :cool:

    Changed the solenoid and no difference .... unhooked the starter and the solenoid merrily clicked away
    Starter out and after a brief bout of weak and slow revolutions on the bench (or on the concrete slab when u have no proper bloody workshop) , it started (?) bouncing around like a starter should when spinning up .... so it seems it just needed a little freedom to stretch its legs .... I also put the bike in top gear and rotated the rear to make sure she wasnt locked up ... all good there

    I tried to adjust the idle but it was stuck and all the bowls started dripping fuel so that was enough ... major carby overhaul required (who would of thought? :confused:)

    Time to relocate it into the back room .... its bloody hot out there in the middle.

    She was loud ... very loud :D

    Needle and seat valves for you it seems, but you're across everything carb related anyway, so it will actually be a doddle

    Something you can consider, you may be able to pickup an OEM R6 tail pipe - they're titanuim, straight through as the muffler box is situated beneath the bike in later models and they're cheap - some fettling to attach, but I don't think it would be excessive.

    No horrible noises but she was quite loud like you said.

    FZR and needing a carb service, who'd have thought it :prankster:

    Loud = Fast :lolsign:

    I took off the stock muffler as it was HUGE and ugly and nearly falling off anyway .... all the neighbours have barking dogs so I have noisy loud motorcycles in response :cool:

    Considering the carbs need work as we always know , it kicked over pretty easily .... choke isnt even connected..... Im not used to that!
    The other thing is it now has had some Delo 400 flow thru its veins :bowdown:

    If you're going for MOAR POWAH, this is out of left field, BUT you can fit YZF600 carbs to the FZR400, two series of YZF600 carbs 4JH '94-95 - 34mm and 4TV '96 onwards - 36mm - they're Keihin, much better quality and already racked to suit the spacing

    IIRC the 4TV carbs will have a throttle position sensor attached which will wouldn't be of use to you unless you use a different TCI

    Woohoo.... who would have guessed it would be loud with no muffler at all.. :)
    So... carbies, fork seals and at least a working front brake would be good. Then onto a diet for the FZR400??

    Gettin her done ...

    Its lost alot of excess baggage already and the calipers are in good shape and I just cleaned them up ready for new pads .... master will get the once over
    Half the fixings for the forks were , lets say, not tight .... usual stuff
    Plenty of simple stuff to be done , just takes time
