Hello everybody. THis is the first time I'm posting here.

I have a Suzuki Across 92 for around 3 years already.

Currently she is with having flat spot when I accelerate. No matter what rpm it (1700/2000) she continues to have these flat spot.

If I maintain the highest rotation, say 3000 rpm it does not lock or anything.

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with Suzuki Across this way or had some other similar bike or similar carb (twin carbs) that can give me a light that I can touch it.

Around a month ago I changed the sliders holders because one of them fell. I replaced all at once to eliminate problems.

Currently she is in position 3 (default) the needles. Not tested yet but will drop to # 2 and see what happens.

I cleaned the top of the carburetor and spray carb cleaner but I do not know if the bottom of the carburetor needs to be open to see if it has anything locked or not.

If anyone has any idea, please share!

    And thanks for any information!

    Hi marco
First thing i would do is get the carbs off and check that your Main jets aren't blocked, do you have an inline fuel filter fitted? Contrary to belief fuel is not entirely clean.

Has this started since you replaced the slide holders?

    Hi Marco
I concur with spaceman, you need to removed the carbs and clean them(top to bottom) and make sure all jets are clean. I also agree that a change to your inline filter will do no harm.
Keep us posted on your progress mate, sure there is light at the end of the tunnel.:thumb_ups:

Yes a full overhaul is the best ..... no use doing bits and pieces
theres plenty of how tos here
new o rings and the like and float needles

compressed air thru the jets and orifices.

First thing is to clean out the tank , its filters ....check the fuel lines and replace the inline filter ...before u install clean carbs.

just done a google search on suzuki across carbs and 2fiftycc comes up 2nd lol, download the manual and spend a weekend on them.

keep things seperate and make sure your work area is clean, i got dog hair in the heads of my bike when checking the valve clearances, spent half an hour picking them out.

So I decide to open the carbs and found both like this. There was that brown colored substance at the bottom of the carbs. Both I cleaned and spray carb cleaner, reassembly and install in the bike. As well I found the air filter box with a big gap between the part that connect to the carbs. Re attached and start the bike but still the same.

This problem start in a rain day. At first the bike was running fine but suddely on my way home she die. Left the bike alone for like 10 hours and the other day she start strait away.

Second time was in the motorway.

Second time she die like when the petrol finish. Try re start and after feel minutes she started but I had to keep the choke half way up.

Since then or she just don't start or start running very bad.

Took the bike to 2 mechanic and both said was the fuel pump.

So I changed the fuel pump, fuel relay, fuel line, filter, 4 sliders holders and still the same.

Pretty much this is what happened with the bike and what I replaced already.

    Thanks for all help guys.

That is just plain dirt in the carb bowl. A complete strip and clean is required to get every last little bit of dirt out of the carbs. Then new seals and tune correctly and you will be amazed at the difference. Also clean out your tank and replace all filters to be sure it doesn't happen again.

Totally agree with Murdo, the tank is without doubt the culprit and would suggest you clean that first. Once that is done you have peace of mind that the source is clear of contaminates, next the carbs and filters need the royal treatment. Pretty sure if you do all of the above you will find yourself in a better place. Good luck.

Marco .... when senior members give u advice ....take it

And u can see from the other senior members above the advice is the same as mine.

It wouldnt matter if 15 mechanics tell u its the fuel pump or wateva...they wouldnt know their arse from their head .....they dont give a crap about you or your bike , and they can pick a novice a mile away.

Here u will get a ton of right advice and follow up and it will cost u nothing.

And if I had your problem the last thing Id check would be the fuel pump...unless it just didnt work at all.

The easy and simple AND least expensive things first when troubleshooting!

End of rant ....Ill go back into my hole.

OK guys. I manage to record feel videos from my bike till the battery die ( it's recharging right now ).

This video was made this afternoon, was around 20C in Sydney.

As you can see, when you try to accelerate she doesn't work at all. Sometimes she even die.

The lowest rpm was 2000rmp, lower than that the bike dies.

The highest ( before I go deaf ) was 6000 rpm.

This other video I copy from youtube. Shows a suzuki across working good, totally different from my bike.

The pictures I posted before was before I cleaned the carbs. After clean up both they still the same.

I gonna find some fuel container to discard the petrol and I tell you guys what's gonna happening next.

Looks and sounds to me like your mains jets are still blocked.

I will elaborate it seems to be running on the pilot jets as it seems to idle and start it only doesn't rev after twisting the throttle. So there is fuel in the carbs so the fuel isnt making it thru the main jet. you are using alot of choke which richens the mixture further.

Mate Im going to repeat myself again ......
YOU NEED TO DO THE WHOLE FULL OVERHAUL

EVERYTHING! .... all the jets ...everything!

Your doing it half arsed and whats the result?

Find a thread here or in google or youtube on how to overhaul carbs .......

If u get stuck part way or arnt sure about something then ask here as u go ...... just jumping in and then putting it back together half done is not the way to go.

I dare say there is a blockage there possibly in the jet channel or the jet themselves as GI and simon have said a full strip and clean is your best bet to get it going again :)
