just swapped off my 89 honda spada import for a 05 hyosung gv 250 seems to go well but seems to flood it self up while riding if you try and give it too much gas any ideas thinking it maybe a carby issue but i seen a cable tie on the carby some where so will check that out tommorow and see whats going on over all i am pretty happy with it

yeah mate very different riding position but once you get used to it i prefer legs out the front then tucked up feels like you have more control that way i did like the honda but a cruiser is what i wanted to get from the start so there was no way i could turn the offer down i think i got the better deal out of it but he got a extra 5 months rego and a new back tyre and new battery plus full service so he cant complain too much lol do you know anyone who is after a cdi box to suit honda spada i got one for sale 100 if you know anyone its been tested on my old bike and works perfect just dont need it

seems to be running rough when riding runs perfect on idol can rev it fine rides ok under 40 but over 40 it starts spluttering and seems to be choking its self it got so bad that the cut off switch turned it self off but if you switch the switch back on it runs fine again until you go over 40 could this be caused by having no air filter in it at all ?

I would hazard a guess that your carbs are dirty possibly from no air filter but more likely from dirty fuel.

http://www.alternativecruisers.com/index.php?topic=1352.0 a thread on how to clean carbs specific to your model
there are many carb cleaning discussions on here.
    cheers

No air filter ? .... I think u answered your own question there.

Apart from the obvious filtering of wat goes in the carb , having no filter can upset the intake and exhaust balance ...as can changing the mufflers.

Mr Grey is correct, your bike needs an air filter pronto. Air fuel ratio would be out of whack!
Let us know when you've fitted it and are cruising down the highway.

will try air filter and yes by the looks of things the exhaust has been modifed has no baffle just straight dump pipes so would the exhaust be a cause of the problem aswell ?

Possibly ..... same principle with headers/exhaust ......its engineered to control the flow of exhaust not just a muffler to kill the noise .... theres back pressure involved yada yada yada

Same thing when u see huge stock airboxes with funny bends and bits here and there ...makes the air flow enter at the correct rate into the carby.

Fit the stock setup in and out and clean carbys and I bet Phils prediction of cruising may well be correct!

    Agree with above.
No air filter in Aus is just stupid, just wanting a worn out engine, plus it regulates the airflow to the carbs and smoothes out the pulsing.
As Grey said, the exhaust is also a calculated length to control the return pulses to the valve and help with scavenging of the burnt exhaust gases. Factories spend millions of $$$$ to work out the best all round exhaust for power, economy and noise and it is fun to watch someone who has replaced the original with an after market or home made muffler on the dyno making less than the 'restrictive' factory one.

will have to try find a standard exhaust for it then and also are the hyosung gv250 ment to be running premium petrol ? as the petrol in mine is a real light yellow i looked it up and it on the net and it looks like it could be premium

    Premium wont hurt it.
Does the bloke you got it from still have the exhaust he took off? They should be easy to find considering all the noisy crusiers there are about.

thats what i am ment to have but want to know if i will get away with running a pod filter on it instead of paying for a new unit i can buy the elbow piece that goes onto the air box and was wondering if i could run a pod onto that to get more air too it

So long as you rejet to suit the extra air.
