So I swear I have seen something similar to this somewhere on here but am unsure as I cant find it.. Any how, I have been hearing for a few different people now that they and people they know are getting fined for gopro's being mounted on their helmets. Police are calling them illegal helmet modification.... Now I always thought you could stick something your helmet... But it only becomes illegal when you drill or screw into your helmet... So if gopro mounts are illegal does that mean wireless intercom units that stick to the outside of helmets are illegal too? What about those blue tooth phone thingys? Just curious to know if the law is just going over the top yet again with silly little things that are not actually illegal
They were fining people at Phillip Island a year or two ago for go pros on helmets. My understanding is if you do modification to your helmet you can be done. Go pros, intercoms, blue tooth, new paint, visors anything. Because it wasn't tested an approved in that format, any of its a risk
it just needs someone to challenge the definition of a modification in the courts - IMO adhesive or anything reversible/removeable does not meet the definition of modification as it's both non-destructive and reversible peace out
