Info Is Kawasaki bringing back the ZXR250 (ZX25R RUMOUR MILL) ?

    They look like USD forks to me. Maybe I need my glasses :cool:
    Anyway as I live in Thailand here is my 2 cents. I know the western media keep harping on about the global meltdown and the purse tightening etc, but these SE Asian countries are on a growth path. There is a lot of money splashing about and a lot of disposable income. I can tell you that if that bike was available here it would fly off the showroom floor. There are virtually no big bikes here at all; due to the astronomical taxes anything over 400cc and you would be better off buying a Honda car. Credit is easy and it's all about appearances, or face. Park one of those babies in the car park at the local shopping complex and your the man. No one bats an eyelid at the CBR250 Honda with chook bike engine, it is a cheap charlie bike.

    For you older forumites, I am sure you remember the good old days in Aus when jobs were plentiful, accommodation was cheap and you had some coin in your pocket. Well that is these days in this part of the world. So maybe Kawasaki have their eye on the ball and are going to knock the chook bikes right out of the arena. Can I have mine supercharged please!

    Looks like they dusted the old moulds off and shipped them to the Thailand factory.
    Has to be 400cc because of restrictive taxes.

    I very much agree with Blair, if this bike eventuates then we are in for a new year era in the Quarter Litre class with a fuel injected in-line 4, a few here have asked why.. lets look at the VM Golf, you can buy a entry level VW Golf for $20,000 and to be honest it does what its supposed to, it drives, it turns , it stops, but VM also offer a GTI that that drives fast, turns like its on rails and stops on a dime and costs $40,000 and it sells really well, the base obviously sells well due to the price, but punters want more.

    I am super excited about the thought of in-line 4's making a comeback, because if Kawasaki do it, then maybe Suzuki , Yamaha and Honda will do it as well. There are so many more riders now than there were in the 90's and the punters will pay extra if there is something that is faster, better looking etc

    whats going to be interesting is how they can clean up its emissions to pass the big test.... i know EFI runs much cleaner than our old half-baked carbies, but to get such power out of a small motor, it really does need a lot of air/fuel... or yes, good old forced induction to keep the emissions down :)

    Then there is the point of total power. I don't want a 200 hp road bike.
    When does it stop? 300, 400? It has to stop soon or the legislators will stop it.
    If sports bikes are recreational vehicles, then isn't the point to have fun going around corners?
    How much power do you need to have fun?
    My old Ducati had a bit over 65hp and topped out at 146mph.
    My current bike, a slightly less older FZR400RR, has about the same power output and more rubber on the road.
    I can have fun on that.

    Further down that page is an article about Kawasaki building a factory in India to make export bikes. Soon there won't be any made in Japan anymore.
