After reading @Murdo's suggestion in the Half way get together (Northern NSW) thread I got to thinking I'd like to organise a South-Eastern get-together. Canberra's not really half-way between Sydney and Melbourne, though - so would anyone from NSW/ACT/VIC be interested in meeting up somewhere like Holbrook, Albury/Wodonga, Beechworth, Glenrowan or Gundagai? I've been down the highway a few times over the years and seen a few changes with more and more bypasses going in and towns like these being little more than refuelling stops, despite having their own history. Holbrook has the submarine, Albury/Wodonga has the border and Murray River, Glenrowan has the Ned Kelly Museum, Gundagai has the Dog on the Tuckerbox and Beechworth was a gold mining town. I'm thinking either late January/early February or late April so as not to clash with the Northern NSW catch-up. Thoughts/suggestions/alternative locations welcome!
Hey Fred, Great idea. I'd be up for it. Anywhere from Melbourne to Albury is okay for me. Is the plan to ride there;stay the night and ride back the next day? Frank
That's the general idea. I'll look into distances and reasonably-priced accommodation if there's enough interest
Bumping to remind myself to follow up on this. I'll see what I can organise around my social calendar as it seems to be filling up fast! I'm thinking somewhere Albury/Wodonga-ish would be a good compromise for those coming from Sydney and Newcastle.
There are some hell awesome twisties through the kinglake area, albury would work but the highway is so boring. Hopefully my bike's registered in time to join in, I'd probably bring a couple of mates too
February is too busy for me now. I might be able to organise March but that's VJMC Nationals if I recall correctly. Probably more likely to be after yours now. Maybe even early May?
Broadford Easter meeting might make a good target. Close for Melbourne/Geelong riders, but worht the trip.
