    Same.
Or fill to 103mm from the top, no spring & fully compressed.
I filled mine with 15 weight this time & added 40c below each end cap to bump up the damping & pre-load.
    Handles so much better now.

Ok new question bike hasn't been run for a couple year first good run today ( has all been cleaned out and refreshed ( oils, fuel system , brake fluid etc)) bike is gagging at about 7-8000 revs any gear thinking first sucking air ( possible will replace hoses ) starving of fuel ( carbies / jets / cables / feed ? ) any one had anything similar any other ideas ?

If its sat for a couple of years then carbys need to come off and be cleaned out

Does it have a fuel filter?

How clean is inside the tank?

Jets should just need cleaning ..... if u open them up again , check they are stock jets also .... they will have sizes stamped on them.

If u have replaced an inline fuel filter make sure its installed in the right direction

Also pull the plug leads and unscrew the caps and snip off a couple of mms off the leads so the caps screw back into some fresh wire in the leads ... look for corrosion

    Changed the plugs? gap correct?

Manual is available for free all over the web! Just Google it. :)
& yeah, I'd be giving the carbs a complete strip down & clean.

I always thought they were a good engine, have ridden but have never owned one.
I agree it could be fuel starvation at that revs. Can you open the drain at bottoms of carbs and turn on the fuel tap to see if running a good stream?
    Good luck with the resto.

I know this is an old thread but for the sake of those reading this and following advice I must say this is wrong.
Filling with 15wt is a good idea but adding 40cc/leg does not bump up the preload or the damping. What adding oil will do is increase the air-spring effect so as the spring compresses the air within the fork leg pressurizes and creates a type of progressive spring rate. That means basically it's a form of bottoming resistance, however 40cc is too much and you will actually limit travel (potentially even blow the seals out)! In my bike I have replaced the crappy stock springs with correct straight rate springs for my weight and therefore run the oil height even lower (160mm from the top) so as not to have an air spring effect. I was finding that I had some unwanted dive under hard braking so I added 10cc per leg and was happy with the result.

    Cheers

To really resurrect an old dead thread, I'm going to clarify what @Streetmaster meant by "adding 40c" — they're talking about 40 *cents!* Using a coin or two as a spacer to increase spring preload is a real old school trick. In this case Streetmaster is talking about inserting two 20 cent coins in each fork.
