Confused as to how the times are slower with better RT and trap speed?

Launch her with more revs! You'll loose abit if the bog down, pretty impressive though!

Only the 2 stroke that was lifting the front wheel. Murdo mentioned that the meeting director had an fzr250 for sale, did not get to speak with him though

let the clutch out at peak horsepower and have the clutch starting to bite with the brake on. as light goes green let front brake go and clutch right out.lean forward so no flip.keep accelerator on on the gear changes.keep accelerating through lights.do not worry on momentory over rev. if you have the killer instinct motor will not matter.read the lights and do a count as last light before green flashes.change between peak torque and horsepower. do not drop revs below peak torque.

    Well done Linkin.

You should aim for low to mid 9's on the eight mile. Don't worry about reaction time too much...it will get better the more you race. Very important is your 60ft time as this sets up the rest of your run. Aim for 2.2sec 60ft time and you'll run mid-9's easy. Sounds like you're running standard gearing on your bike...yes? If you want to pick up some ET cheaply, take your muffler off...should drop your ET by 2 to 2.5sec.

Couple of pics of the bikes there today. One guy with a green ZX10 destroyed his rear tyre so came back with a Z1000.

    I wish :p

Forgot to have the camera running for the first qualifying run, the first clip is the second qualifying run.

Second clip is qualifying again, and I took the exhaust can off for some fun.

The third clip is the first actual race, elimination. My dial in time was 9.7 in case I pulled a miracle. As you can see I got a good head start against the blue R1, but he got past me right before the trap, and that was the end of my racing for the day.

My best run for the day:

    Reaction time: 0.421
    60FT: 2.323
    Trap speed: 118.49 KM/h
    Elapsed time: 9.779

    Second best run:

    Reaction time: 0.258
    60FT: 2.283
    Trap speed: 114.48 KM/h
    Elapsed time: 9.795

Idiot. What I meant to write was it will drop your ET by .2 to .25sec if you remove your muffler.

I think young Linkin did real well at his first go. Maybe a bit more practice with slipping the clutch so the engine doesn't bog down and fall off the power. It's all a learning curve.

Clear skies, not too hot/cold, no wind and a reasonably grippy track. He had fun and didn't break anything and was able to ride home. Winner!

Yes Murdo, I completely agree. Linkin has the right build for going quick. A few more runs and he'll be right there. I wish I was that skinny! One unkind individual suggested it should be against the rules for the rider to weigh more than the bike...lucky he was a mate.

RT is just how quickly you react to the light going green. You might pull a wheelie or change gears not just right. 1/8 mile is odd because you usually only get to third gear and that's it. It is an odd phenomenon when you run a slower ET but a faster MPH especially for low HP bikes like our 250's...normally, if you fluff a gear change the entire run goes south. Bogging on the line can sometimes give you a decent MPH, but crap ET.

    Murdo,

Didn't George Wegener run an S600 with a V8 or was that a Datsun? I remember one of those guys had a 454 in something the size of an S600. Long time ago when Surfers Raceway was running.

Also, that VW looks like one that runs in SCO at Willowbank....same guy?

I don't know about the S600/Datsun with 454 (Risky might remember back that far), but the blue VW is SCO.
