    Hi all,
I have just picked up a 3LN1 without a motor, carbies, fuel tank and air box and I wish to transplant my healthy 2kr non ex-up motor into it. Has anyone done this here that could help answer a few questions I have before I pull my going 2kr apart?

I am aware I have to make engine mounts for the front and am no concerned about that. I am worried more about the fact my airbox and tank don't look close to fitting let alone the carbies.

If anyone could shed some light on this I would be very appreciative! The 2kr motor is really happy and healthy so I wish to use it as it runs if possible!

    Cheers!

You will need all the following from the 2KR:

    Engine
    Wiring loom
    CDI Box
    Instrument cluster
    Airbox
    Carbs

No easy task. The 3LN wiring loom is going to have different connecters for its respective CDI.

You may be better off trying to find a 3LN1 motor if your 2KR is in good working order. The fizzer factory has a number of 3LN1 motors in unknown condition and maybe missing some bits.

You could try an FZX 250 (Zeal) motor (they are a "detuned" 3LN motor - still 40HP) and CDI, but I'm unsure on mounting points.

Thanks for the info! After some consideration it has been decided that it is too much effort and I will just keep using the 2kr as a track hack for now. Don't suppose you would know what a good rear shock upgrade would be for a 2kr? The R6 one I had for the 3ln1 will not fit at all.

It's the R6R shock that fits the 3LN's. I don't know much if anything about the rear shock on these bikes. I do have a bouncy rear shock that I have to swap for a good one, and have been thinking about buying a new one if Jap Bike Spares make one for the FZR... but you'd have to pull a standard rear shock out, measure the eyelets & eye to eye length, and the compressed and uncompressed length of the spring to get the spring rate rate (for setting static sag)

i'd swap the front end off the 3ln on to the 2kr. twin discs is better than single. the R6 shock will fit the 3ln with a very slight bit of modification, i believe the R6R requires less modification. unsure of what may fit the 2kr. picture of the rear set up??
