Well the one I looked at, http://www.ebay.com/itm/HONDA-NSR25...3-950-SINGLE-SIDE-SWING-ARM-JDM-/201086248328, is very scary. The mould for that will be horribly expensive and there are still some OEM items kicking about.

Carb rubbers, do you have the part numbers?
    cheers

Pardon my ignorance, but how is that chain slider significantly more difficult to manufacture than any other kind? It's similar to most chain sliders I've come across. Nonetheless, I'd be more interested in the MC21 chain sliders.

The rubber carb inlets are: http://www.ebay.com/itm/HONDA-NSR-2...9e25160&pid=100011&rk=1&rkt=3&sd=282089461915

    Part diagram:http://tso.us.com/parts-book/honda/0250nsr250/mc21-100-7l/3_part_pages/e_07.asp

    Part number: 16210-KV3-830

And honestly, the boost bottle things on the top aren't even required as the HRC manual tells people to remove and block the ports off. So I'd imagine it would be similar to other bikes. Only downside is both inlets are connected. Design wise I would think having them separate would be better.

The mould is made from two blocks of cnc milled steel, so the MC28 version, which is very long, is going to cost a bundle.
I am much more likely to do the smaller MC21. Will look into it but they seem to be available also

For manifold rubbers, sorry but I am just going to do some spigots to fit various carbs and also aluminium tubes to fit them.

Those sliders last 500kms, they're too soft

Ok, I am doing a test piece for the Kawasaki item in polyurethane. If they work out, I will chase up an MC21 original. Seems like that is a bit hard to find as an original part.

@aky141 are those aftermarket jobbies on eBay a good fit? If so I could use of those for the pattern.

I'm sure Tyga would let you borrow it/exchange for some freebies if the test run is good. They, more than anyone, want to see NSRs continued beyond Honda's support (which is dwindling as it is).

I was talking to Paul and he (and I, and many people) are frustrated because they discontinued many rubber parts that typically need replacing 15ish years after the bike is new. So a bike is basically ruined unless you can make your own slider. However, without specialised tools or the know-how, it would be difficult to make a decent replacement. It's only because many parts are re-used on modern bikes that you can buy so many new ones. Many parts for the MC16 and MC18 have been discontinued, even critical engine components like crankshafts.

As far as intakes go, I have though about doing a similar thing with alloy intakes and but given the proximity of the carbs to the cases once fully in, the airbox might not fit. In a race bike that wouldn't be an issue but people wanting an airbox made find it not suitable. I'd havent measured it up yet though.

Yes, I bought one to have a look. They appear to be about Shore A 65-70, which is too soft for this application. I do not know what it is made of at the moment. Does not appear to be NBR nor EPDM based on my smell test. Quite an elaborate mould would be required to make this part.

    Hi All,
I am making the slider for the FZR400RR 3TJ1 (my bike). Part number 3TJ-22151-00
One of the guys on the 400greybike forum had a NOS and sent it to me to get it done.
I also located a used ZXR250 late model slider that I will use at some time in the future to get the mould done.
    cheers
    Blair

Hi Maelstom, looks like TYGA Performance has new stock of NSR MC21 chain sliders. at 80 USD they're pretty expensive so possible market for you?

    http://tyga-performance.com/product_info.php?cPath=72_1036_79_121_122&products_id=650

These are apparently new stock (Not NOS) but Tyga seem unsure if the supply will last. I would only guess Honda made a bunch of them which I imagine will be eaten up by NSR owners fairly quickly (this part has been unsupplied for many years).

If they were OEM they would be in a Honda bag, so I imagine they had them made and no need for me to make them.
