With that idea you would also need to remove some material off the bottom of the needle clip shim to compensate for the thickness of the rivets' 'top hat', otherwise it would raise the needle in the needle jet making it run richer, but that is easy enough
yeah I bought some 3mm I.D. nylon washers from Jaycar for that purpose, potentially I could do a second inverted tophat - sitting brim to brim with the lower one and the nylon washer on top to rest the e-clip on to get the correct height Now where is @maelstrom with the pending acquisition of his microlathe
With the rivet going through the bottom of the slide i don't think you'll gain much, from memory the bottom face of the slide isn't that thick. You cant really have anything hanging out the bottom as it will affect the flow of air past the top of the needle jet, which will restrict the amount of fuel it'll draw out on the main jet circuit Lathe/Mill/Drill combination $245 AU shipped to Thailand- https://www.aliexpress.com/item/6-i..._1&btsid=4334d7c4-7f26-458b-ac98-3be9e52e6413
The rivets get trimmed to the thickness of the slide lower, ~2mm, that's not what provides the rigidity, it's the super snug fit onto the needle. The nickel plating can be used to get that needle to hole tolerance/clearance down to near zero, so no slop whatsoever. The needle now has effectively a 10mm flange with the pressure of the full length spring onto the floor of the slide cavity to keep it flat Best part is when that needle is most exposed, with the least supported end in the venturi, at higher throttle openings, the slide return spring pressure is at it's greatest. Mr @maelstrom I suspect has a perfectionist streak - I think something more like this is on his wish list - though I think he mentioned CNC functionality http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SIEG-Sup...0W-Lathe-Mill-Drill-Combination-/301992521451
Ok, just checked the thickness at the base of the slide's of my 3LN3 carb's, it's 8mm thick My original needle clip shim's are quite tight on the original needle's, the original plastic spring seat's are a touch smaller i'd than the Keyster one's
I got it from a Shop about 10 min's from me, it's call Adelaide Electroplating Distributor's or AED for short If you want some i might be able to send it up in the post i still have a fair bit left from memory, i'll have a look
