So... an update on the post above..
The good news... My piston has been shipped via DHL so I should see it in a week or 2 I guess.
The bad news... not all that happy with Boats.. when I went to place the order all items were shown as in stock.. as they were with Megazip.. I now have advice from Boats that none are ex stock with 2 items not being available until 4th June.. so.. yes they were a bit cheaper but overall.. well I will see when everything arrives but I think it will be the first and last time I use them.

Never liked the stock instrument layout, sits to high and looks strange from the front. So started to fab/mock up a new one. I think I like it :)

Hmm looking at your shed I really should move the bikes and the lift out and really sort my stuff out. I have a standard 6 x 3 garage and not much room, mainly because I have everything spread out on different shelves etc... lol
Maybe I will assemble my front forks this weekend and then sort the Garage .... maybe :D

I threw some chromed capscrews into some white vinegar the other day to let them soak and see if the rust would come off.
Had a look today when I went out to the garage and say the weirdest thing.
There are bubbles on the surface in the outline of one of the capscrews.

    e029e96dba7bf9c818d5f881925b288a.jpg

Then I decided to clean up a heap of nuts and bolts etc so I mixed up some white vinegar, citrus cleaner concentrate and water and chucked them into the ultrasonic cleaner.
Here it is after 40 minutes at 60 C bubbling away

I started to sand back the filler I had put on the belly-pan and saw there was some movement on 2 of the plastic welds, so I got the big soldering iron and my SS mesh out and melted it in one one of the cracks.. then I cut a couple of 1.6mm filler rod and melted them in on the other crack... last part was to weld up those areas on the outside surface as well.. sanded them down and then mixed up some more filler..... Hopefully now all I need to figure out is how to get rid of the 2 big stickers.. they dont peel of at all.. I might try some thinners on them tomorrow.

    c86bd160525ba99c07b6bc4d4ff6c55e.jpg

I also did some tidying up and sorting and found that I have a brand new 1 litre container of Fuchs Sikolene RSF7.5 Fork oil... it came with one of the Honda VTR250's.. It works out it is the equivalent of 10wt fork oil..
Has anyone used it before? hoping to get to the front fork rebuild tomorrow...

When I went in for a cup of tea I ordered a little benchtop Blast Cabinet to allow me to bead blast lots of smaller parts etc.. I had looked at making my own with lots of input from @my67xr (thanks for the input) but decided I would go with a 90 litre unit off eBay for a number of reasons.. I will need to look at Blast media and also what mods I will need to make to ensure the common issue of leaking dust is remedied on mine.. I will be hooking up my Big kArcher garage vac to it to try and keep everything visible inside.

Last night at 10pm I received a message from @ShaneP letting me know there was a Daytona 675 up for sale nearby. I messaged the seller and asked if I could view it early today as I had to take my son to rugby at lunchtime.

At 6am my phone went ding and it was the seller saying I could pop over but had to be gone by 7:30 as they too were off to kids sport

I raced down to my shed so I could
Drop off yesterday’s purchases and headed over to see the bike . The seller
Explained it was her sons bike and he recently passed away from cancer and the proceeds of the sale were to be donated to charity. The bike is a 2011 with 16,000 kms on the clock. The bike has a few sins namely a ding in the tank, very bad mirrors with dodgy indicators and a bald front Tyre so we agreed on a price and I loaded it up and took her home.

When I first started this forum, I had it in my head that one day I would sell my 250’s to move onto a 675 , today is that day, the good news is that I still get to keep my 250’s

Here is a pic of the girl
    08B9E71D-5927-47A0-93A5-2C680FA80762.jpeg

It turns out the sellers grandson plays rugby union for the same club as my son, albeit different age groups , but I have promised to ride it down on game days once it is back on the road so they can see it.

It has the dodgy alarm, the whole drive home it kept going off in the back of the van, I need to find an owners manual to work out how it works and more importantly disable it.

@Darren has the street triple and it is a damm nice bike. the previous owner ditched the side fairing indicators and put in some integrated mirror ones which look like devils horns so I am looking for correct ones. New tyres are on the cards , looking at Bridgestone s21’s . Just moved the bike into the garage and the bloody alarm went off again,

Where are those side cutters..... I can fix this, I’m sure

Check under the rider's seat near the battery.

If it's a factory alarm it will covered in very tough heatshrink and the plug will have a load of black wires.

Lovely bike @kiffsta ... they are gorgeous but I still have trouble associating them with the name Triumph lol.. To me Triumph has a mental picture of Bonneville or a Trident, just like Norton is a Commando.. hopefully this one wont have the typical Triumph oil drip :)
