Cool, who was the insurer? NRMA didn't do fire & theft, only the 3rd party component... Is it agreed value?

the main thing i wanted was to be covered if i did damage to others. the fire and theft is added piece of mine. covers for attempted theft as well as limited cover for any of my gear with the bike if its stolen. also, only $400 excess.

I rang RACV and they don't do theft cover, can you believe it? would only do third party and were hesitant to offer me a quote to do comprehensive (I needed to speak to some special team).

I hate Youi. They gut out their policies and pester you endlessly (even when you're already insured with them) and they claim "savings". Never going back to that mob.

I've had most good experiences with GIO, but normally steer clear when their price jumps up because it does... and quite a bit.

I just got a quote from IMR (insuremyride) for my FZR250. $20/month @ $3500 value (market value). Not bad, not bad.

I was struggling to find anyone who would insure it for theft, and when I did it was like $16/month. $4 a month to replace the bike if I break it (with enough left over to buy me some new gear as well?) I'm in on that.

That's a very good deal I think... It's costing me $30pm with NRMA, but I think mine is agreed value for $3,500

Are you sure your insured? I've just been on the IMR website, and they only have the FZR thou and six. They have the FZX 250 which I assume is the zeal. And IIRC they don't insure imports.

    Hi Mate,

Yes definitely sure. I actually was skeptical at first so I sent them an email, specifically mentioning this bike was a grey import. This is their response:

I can confirm that we are able to insure your bike. When completing the quote online to retain the 25 percent internet discount, please enter the bike as follows:

    · Year – 1991
    · Make – Yamaha
    · Model – Yamaha

Options will then appear to select the FZR250.

Did all that and all sweet :D

IMG_20181030_084903.jpg I've found Aami pretty cheap. Went to get cover for my Across, really only need third party property, came to $6/month, $7.70/month for fire and theft, and $16/month for comprehensive. As you see above, they valued it at $3200-4800; clearly they haven't seen my bike.. But who gets $3k for an Across? Even at $400 excess, still much the same price.

Still reviving an old thread. Went to insure my ZXR, not everyone does insurance on them. I was just going for third party property to be cheap, but because I had NRMA for other vehicles and a no-claims bonus, the comparison was closed Screenshot_20190810-082033.jpeg
At that, I figured the comprehensive for $20/month until I sell is a nice safety net.
