    Nice score,
i used to work with a guy year's ago that had one the same, he used to ride it from Mt Barker to St Mary's every day and back home each night.

With the stator giving no continuity at all, have you tried checking it back closer to the winding's ?
(.02 may just be the loss at the meter, touch the 2 probe's directly together to check to see if it's the same reading)
One of the wire's may have broken between the winding's and plug's at the end of the lead's, possibly where that grommet is at the top left of the loom or on one of the sharper bend's?

Poke a couple of pin's through the wires' insulation about 200mm from the winding's and try measuring it there

    Thanks for the advice @my67xr. I've always wanted a CB250 for a commuter but never found a "cheapie", had a good run with a 81 SR250, 82 GS125 and 94 XV250 for my daily commuters(50-60km round trip)

I will check closer to the windings tonight. I did give it to a friend to test as he's a sparky (im not a sparkys ahole lol) and i think my multimeter came from a gag magic showbag!

    Current state of killswitch: 20170510_214119-600x800.jpg
The tab is loose im guessing that needs to be touching however no idea which colour needs to be soldered to either point. I think black/white wire goes to cdi...

Also tested the stator with a new multimeter(not cheap shite haha) and got 0.4, thats within spec and nothing to earth, also checked pulse generator-all good. Must be a cracked wire somewhere/killswitch/ignition barrel/coils........one day

I'm guessing the wire's will work soldered either way.
Does something move and contact the other terminal when you flick the switch to kill?

If the wire from the cdi (black w/white stripe?) was touching an earth eg handlebar's, then the bike wouldn't start
Should be a 5 minute job to fix the kill switch if it's still good and then it might start ?

I could come up and give you a hand if you need any help
If the kill switch isn't repairable i could lend you a generic kill switch to use until you find a good one

I'll try and solder them tonight, i have tried earthing the wires to the bars - still no spark. I will test the ignition coils tonight with the good multimeter. Going to go over the whole bike and do all the tests in the manual, just printed it at work - will record results.

Thanks for the help offer but im not ready to admit defeat yet haha, i have a few wrecks that i might be able to poach a kill switch from however the CB is a 91, my bikes are 60s - late 80s haha

Indeed, the kill switch not connecting will not affect the running of the bike - if in doubt you can pull apart the bullet connector (I think the wires are black and white?) in the headlight bowl and remove it from the equation entirely.

Are you sure the pickup next to the flywheel is working? A mate had one fail on his CD250U recently, though it only stops working when the engine is hot..

The pickup tested within spec, however after lots of research on rebel/CBR forums the pickups tend to fail a lot! I'd pinch one off of my CBR250R thats in bits however that has the same problem!

Think im going to bite the bullet and buy a new one in a couple weeks. After the Finke desert race :D

    Update:
    • Cleaned EVERY connection on the bike with contact cleaner
    • Replaced fuses
    • Bought 3 new cdi units........$$$$$$
Still no spark :( everything tests within spec as stated in the manual. Its got to be something simple!

You need to do some more diagnosis. Are you getting a plausible signal from the pickup? Are any of the ignition units picking that up? Is the TCI/CDI properly sending the signal/collapsing the field to the coils? Are the coils outputting anything? Are the leads and caps OK? Are the plugs new?

When you are testing all the Ohm's reading's, are you subtracting the Ohm's reading between the red and black lead's ?
Turn your meter on to 200 Ohm's, touch the black probe to the red probe, how many Ohm's are you getting there ?
