Got quoted on a new stator for the ZXR. $377 AUD from Japan. That is a bit more than I want to spend. From Kawasaki Australia? "You're bike isn't real, part number doesn't exist"
They might have to use the old microfiche system to find them! :-D I've ordered and gotten quotes for them before, try a different dealer, though they may have stop supplying parts for them since then.
Spent the weekend at a mates' place 2.5 hour's away riding my bike's, took the IT200, XT250 and 190 Pitbike Feeling a bit sore today, all bike's ran flawlessly
the vfr800 is now registered in my name. got a toll notice for riding it in sydney?has not been registered in 12 months so had a gentle go at them like- riding an unregistered bike? harassment, invasion of privacy, fraud and if i get another notice when i am not in sydney the solicitors bill you pay will be far more than any toll.their number plate recognition software is not up to it.
Had a bit of time to play around with the KR1 I picked up recently. Did a rough carb clean, threw some fresh motor oil in, cleaned the pugs and whacked a bit of 2T oil down the plug holes. Charged the battery and sprayed start you bastard on everything. Mixed up some 30:1 premix and primed it. Did not expect much. Hit the kick starter...and it fired first go! Ran fine no bad noises or issues. Shut it down and had a drink. Will flush everything out and replace plugs etc and take for run down the road sometime next week. Will have a crack at one of the KR250's tomorrow if I get time. Pretty stoked that it ran fine....can't wait to sort it out and head to the track!
Picked up another CBX250 for a reasonable price. Bonus it was just down the road. Needs a fork seal and new tyres and it should be on the road.
Tried pushing out a dent from a Honda tank with a sphygmomanometer (the thing they put around your arm when taking blood perssure) but it was just not up to the job. I cut the bottom out of the tank with the plasma cutter and with a range of ugly bits of metal and a rosewood mallet made it look like it used to. Welded the bottom back in and will seal the inside tomorrow with a KBS sealer kit. May just need a thin wipe of filler to fill any hammer marks and will be ready for paint.
assembled a child electric ride in car. the chinglish left a sense of wonder-instead of saying fit a bush supplied it said -fit condom.lol.
I cleaned the plastics on a couple of dirtbikes with carby cleaner and a scourer. The oxidized chalky plastic comes off easy enough, worked on white DR350 and blue PW80, but not on the PW80 tank. Takes some stain out of the white tank, though. Other tank that had already been scratched back and strain again didn't clean as easily. Could do with a bit of a buff afterwards.
For dirt bike plastic's try the Threebond Super Engine Conditioner and some 0000 steel wool. Don't use much pressure and work in a circular pattern, it cleaned up my XT250 plastic's in no time and even left a gloss finish. Haven't tried it on ABS though.
I wouldn't try these on abs, both the acrylic and styrene are dissolvable in petrochemicals. But I'm sure the chemicals are eating the plastic is both cases, too.
I did a bit more on DR350, not much really, put the tank on, fuel in and started it for the first time in a decade. I had pulled the motor down in that time, but I started work 2, maybe 4+, years ago. There's still a bit to do, electrical and roadworthy stuff, mostly. But getting close.
I picked up some nos Yamaha part's today at a bike swap meet at Lockley's, was only about 10 seller's there and maybe 30 bike's on display. There were a couple of hundred bike's parked out in the street though I got a couple of speedo cable's, a brake master kit, pair of foot peg rubber's, r/h foot peg, fairing clip's, a YZ waterpump bearing, an IT200 rear tank strap, a few sprocket hold down plate's, paid $20 for the lot which was very good.
Yeah spent a semi wasted 1/2 an hr at the swap meet slim pickings.... there is always strath's swap next week....doubt the missus will give me another hall pass
Hmm, we have a big, general swap meet in Rocky each year, but I wonder if a bike (maybe and car) swap would work up here? I'll talk to some people and blame it on you guys if I caught up in running a swap meet. :-D
Got to the bottom of a leaking carby problem today. Put in an inline fuel shut off valve because the petcock was flowing in all positions. Took the carbies off the bike and sat them on a chair and turned on the fuel tap. Came back 1/2 an hour later to find petrol weeping out of the left carby. Pulled out the floats and needle and seat and cleaned them. I found the smallest bit of crud. Big enough to cause a leak though. Put everything back together and tested them again. Dry! It felt good to have a win. Put the carbies back on, ran the bike for a while and turned the tap off. Getting a bit paranoid about leaks.
