Hey there boys and girls, about 6 months ago i managed to save one of these bikes from being tossed into the dumpster by one of my colleagues simply because he didn't like JapCrap bikes.
This is my first project bike, and depending on what how this bikes turns out and what i learn i already have a second project lined up in the form of a 1975 CB125 (that's for another day).
Thanks to this bike i really want to get my license and this will be my first road bike aswell.

As i continue along the path to fixing this bike i will try to keep everyone up to date and try to take before and after pictures for everyone to see my progress (everyone likes to see what others are doing, dont they?)

Without further ado, here come the first pictures in the form of the bikes current state. b836406b1c07d0600ade424779b326c7.jpg 1d594547cc90b798f27096fa6ac70c93.jpg cb85ccbe43316250ed41be42c21b5c21.jpg 8cc1d6280dbe2c8d69334ac0e6e79d87.jpg

Happy first project :thumb_ups: carbs look like there sat for awhile, did you manage to save all the needles & seats? The seat I can see that you got out looks a little worn possibly. Screenshot_2017-10-21-00-37-52-1.png

One of them i couldn't manage to get out but i was already thinking that i may just replace them anyway. Any tricks to get stubborn seats out?

Small pliers, try & get it moving & free first by twisting a mm or two back & forths before pulling it out, only touch the outside of the seat never the inner where the needle slides. A little lubricant or threebond down the carb fuel line & let sit also helps. If the needles are stuck solid in the seats they should be replaced.

The new seats dont come with the filters on them either,so you will have to save those off the old ones

The filters don't fit on those new seats. They are not exactly the same. Already replaced mine with those exact ones.

    Need an inline filter.

Then get the biggest one you can fit as too small will restrict the flow giving more trouble.

I had that type of filter on my FZR, it couldn't flow enough
The outlet to fuel pump or carby's is the flanged end

ZXR's don't come with an inline filter as standard, that one does look a bit small.

I use a generic filter from supercheap, SC4F, it's a bit big and only just fits around the ZXR airbox but it works for me and doesn't cause any issues.

There is lot to be said for not having an online filter at all. Put your efforts into getting the tank ultra clean and rust free. I am sure the Balius runs better for it.
