Good on you Rob for taking the correct approach and doing it properly - plenty of people on here will share their knowledge and experience.

I've used egg cartons to keep cylinder head parts organised, I think they would be equally suitable for the gears, clips, shims and spacers from the shaft.

Anyway looking forward to more progress reports

I always use the plastic trays that nearly everything is packed in from the supermarket ... good for storing and cleaning .... also the old ziplock plastic bag that u can label is a good move also ... and photos as u go is invaluable

It may be clear and easy during diassemble but maybe not so 2 weeks later at reassembly

wheres that 10mm socket ? :help:

I am not going to show you photos of my garage - because it does make yours look like a well oiled machine

I don't have a garage, I have a verandah and a couple of tables for a work bench. Ahh the joys of renting

You are a brave man dude, you are undertaking a major, but seriously their is nothing wrong with a simple tack weld job, modern Mig welding equipment would be quick, simple & would not transfer to much heat to destroy the shaft seal.
