    @my67xr If I could buy the Oil filter cover off the motor you've got? save me alot of hassle. Would pay for shipping obviously t.
    Need to get a front sprocket/gear shifter cover anyway, so if you'd be willing to sell I'm more than willing to buy.

    Also -- I have a spare radiator in good condition now if anyone's keen,
    I got a cooling system(all the piping, thermostat, overflow, radiator) bundle from a wrecker on ebay for cheap that had everything I needed, it was cheaper than buying all the parts individually.

    - Got the throttle and RH switch, I'll probably replace it later(missing the headlight switch) but for what I'm doing this is fine for now.

    - Cluster works good never got the original ks. So I'm just gonna go off this... Did somebody say 'dodgy?'.

    - Got the rear brakes bled, they're nice and tough now.

    - Wrong coolant overflow bottle. Hmmm...


    - The bike is starting to look great as it becomes less bare, a lot better than when I first got it!

    The red gasket product from wurth does wonders for coolant leaks

    I recommend that you never use any gasket compound in a cooling system. Especially with a small motorcycle that only holds a little more than a litre of coolant.

    this is rated for coolant anyway. And appears to have been previously in the same way so I didn't see a problem with it.
    It's silicone based, I dunno. Seemed fine

    I appreciate the advice though @maelstrom I was thinking of which brand I should go with for oil? Im going to replace it anyway just so Im sure of what it's running. I've always been a fan of penrite

    Any recommendations?

    I'm not a fan of silicon sealant on any engine's.
    Most of the big manufacturer's don't use it either.

    Penrite will be fine for your bike as long as it's motorcycle engine oil, none of it has any friction modifier's,
    just check it mention's being safe for wet clutch's.
    I used to use Penrite oil's in my car back in the late 80's, it was reconstituted engine oil back then so they bought old oil and cleaned and filtered it etc etc and added a few different thing's then resold it.

    I use Castrol Activ 4T 15w50 in my FZR and other bike's now, 4L is around $32 when it's on special at Supercheap

    If I'm being completely honest it's only meant to be a temporary fix for the collant leaks while I get the engine running. I do plan on replacing the seals, the o-rings, the lines/hoses etc. It's just a matter of time and money. Once it's running I can go alot further into the project.

    We use this in the bikes here and also my 20+yr old petrol Land Cruiser .... runs quieter and smoother and stays cleaner than anything else Ive used before .... Penrite in the Cruiser turned to black coffee after a thousand Ks but I use it in the diffs :)

    It will block your radiator.

    As for oil, I use synthetic in my bikes. Use whatever you like, but change the goddamn stuff. Almost every bike engine I had to rebuild was because of dickhead owners who couldn't be bothered to change their oil.

    It's a easy bike to service. The sump plug/bolt is in an easy spot. and the coolant plug at the bottom of the frame is also a breeze.
    I am a dickhead, don't get me wrong, but replacing the oil won't be a problem for me :D
